Chincoteague Cruises & Nature Tours with a Native Son. Glide along...

Chincoteague Cruises & Nature Tours with a Native Son. Glide along island waterways and plunge into local history with Eco-Tour Guide, Captain Charlie Birch, former US Coast Guardsman & seventh-generation Islander. We take pride in personalizing your tour to your interests--be it getting as close as possible to pony families, dolphin watching, scoping out the incredible variety of bird species , or enjoying a fun and educational hands on experience. On your tour you may visit Captain Charlie's "Hoof Prints" oyster farm, harvest and sample some of Chincoteague's world famous "salt" oysters. Another popular destination is the mini-barrier island, a remote sandbar that will allow the young ones to run free, explore and splash. We specialize in family groups, with a maximum limit of 6 guests. Our motto, "YOUR FAMILY, YOUR BOAT, YOUR TOUR".

We were staying at the Hampton Inn and we were picked up right at the dock on the hotel. Captain Charlie knew his history and location and even better, he adapted to his audience. He didn't try to force down what he wanted to say, it wasn't a fake recorded message - he talked about what we were interested in... More

We went to Chincoteague Island/Assateague Seashore last summer. Since we didn't plan our trip during pony penning week, we wanted to do something special. We booked a cruise with Chincoteague Cruises and Nature Tours. Getting in touch with them to set up reservations was easy, the marina was easy to find and Captain Charlie was a friendly, personable man who... More

A must if in the area. We are staying in ocean city and we took an hour drive there and was well worth our money.

My family and I had a wonderful time on our tour with Capt. Charlie! We liked that he has a smaller boat and, therefore, was able to comfortably accommodate my family without having many others onboard. Charlie grew up in Chincoteague and was able to share with us a lot of the island's history and culture. It was neat to... More

Charlie treated us like family from the start and exuded a genuine passion for his home waters that was infectious. He went above and beyond our expectations, even extending our tour so that we could get a closer look at a family of dolphins. He sniffed out 2 bald eagles, a small pack of wild horses grazing a good distance... More

The captain was so friendly. He talked with us like we were old friends. He was well aware of my fear of boats, and was very serious about what he does and how the tour would be. I trusted him, and it was a nice trip.

Captain Charlie is a native of the island and gave us a personal and personalized tour. We saw dolphins, all kinds of water fowl, and a beautiful herd of ponies. Oyster lovers, just ask him what he knows and you might be in for a huge treat. Charlie even had fun activities and prizes to keep our 8 and 10... More

This was our first boat trip ever! Capt Charlie is friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what he does for a living. Our adult nephew who has austisim came with us (total of 5 of us). We explained ahead of time his needs and Capt Charlie delivered allowing our nephew to be himself and thoroughly enjoy himself, as well as us.... More

We took a family morning cruise with Captain Charlie (Birch) in August 2014. Our cruise was everything I had hoped it would be, which is saying a lot because I have two teenagers and two toddlers and it is challenging to find activities everyone enjoys and is interested in. First, the boat was clean and safe. It is basically an... More

We had a fabulous time on the tour with Captain Charlie! He knew where the ponies had been shortly before our tour, so he was able to take us directly to see them before they moved on. In addition, he has a vast knowledge of the area and the history. He was able to share information and stories with us... More
