Anyone living in this part of VA needs to visit this park. It has a trail around a lake settled in the 1600s as part of the James town settlements. Its said to be one of the oldest sites in the US and hosts a timeless display of how the community was established. With interpreters in period costume, this is... More

Quaint. The re-enactors are very knowledgeable about history. There have been some good renovations recently. Kids love it.

Who has heard of Henricus? Actually the first Capital of Virginia. When the Jamestown settlers got tired of the swamps they moved here. The village equals the construction of Jamestown or Plymouth. Great reenactors and many special events during the year.

I happened to visit the site on one of their event days, thus there were probably more interpreters there than usual. As a result I spent 4 hours there talking with the well knowledged volunteers. I found a visit here far more enjoyable and informative than any I have had to Jamestown. It is truly a gem.

We visited on a Sunday. The conservation area surrounding the park is stunningly beautiful and makes for a nice half day hike or running, biking or riding trail. The city itself is a 501c3 not for profit as as such, many contributions are made by volunteers rather than paid staff, which I think provides a more genuine and interested docent.... More

Love the 2 mile trail out and back by the James. So many interesting species of nature to see and you can try the fishing.

This was our first visit. We had several interesting and educational presentations by the docents. A nice gift shop and clean bathrooms are available.

Very good 'actors' playing the roles of colonists and Indians, etc. A very good store and the knowledge of the 'actors' is very, very good.

We visit as often as we can ... we really like interacting with the period actors in costume. My 5 y/o is amazed that people lived in mud houses with dirt floors. Makes her appreciate our home a bit more. This is one of the must do's if you come to our area, you will not be disappointed,
