If you're in Richmond, this site is closer to get to than Jamestown, but very similar on a slightly smaller scale. It's encouraging that both Chesterfield County and Henrico County have teamed up to make this what it is. Dutch Gap is a beautiful, natural area just twenty minutes from downtown by car. School groups visit all year long. Nice... More

A great place to learn about the early history of our country and Sir Thomas Dale. Park attendants are very knowledgeable.

This living history park (yes, it's outdoors) was actually a great surprise to us, as it really exceeded our expectations in both quality of interpretation and realism. You're taken back to 1611 when our nation's 2nd English settlement was established. History comes alive as re-enactors (park volunteers dressed in time appropriate attire), play their parts with great knowledge and conviction!... More

We were visiting our family in Chesterfield and they brought us here to learn about some history. Was a great choice the individuals that work there were very informative and knowledgeable. Lots to see and learn about. It took about an hour matbe a little longer to go through.

I love this park and everything they offer. A true gem. It's too bad more locals aren't aware of it. Ghost tours, summer camps, etc. in addition to their regular living museum tours.

Henricus Park is a re-creation of the second oldest British Colony in the New World. Far larger than I expected with a church, pastors house, several small houses, an Indian village, lots of gardens, pig pen, Chicken coop, Indian meeting house, etc.. The pathway is overgrown and unkempt, which only adds to the whole "I'm back in the early 17th... More

We spent a lovely afternoon in 1600's Virginia Colony. The staff were interesting and informative about the Citie of Henricus. Please take a moment and watch the small presentation film in the gift shop, it will set you up for you walk through history.

I use to hike the area before it underwent its revitalization. My family enjoyed the lessons and the perfume making in the herb/botanical garden. Priced right, friendly staff, nice gift shop.

This little park is a great place to take the family for a quiet walk back in time. We all know about Jamestown but few were taught about the second settlement in what became Virginia. Henricus is staffed with knowledgable re-enactors who help visitors capture a vision of life in the early 1600's in the New World.

Awesome trails, beautiful scenic waterways, dog friendly. Great place to jog, walk on trails or even fish. Lots of history and just a beautiful place.
