Checked the website the day of our visit, and there was no notice of the fact that most of the museum was inaccessible that day due to exhibit changes. So, we arrived expecting a full visit, and were quite disappointed to find it was impossible. Really: a museum of this caliber should not require a phone call to double-check that... More

Not many things are free anymore, so you should put this on your list of things to do. The building sits on the grounds of The University of Virginia and a short walk from the Rotunda. The exhibits change often and you need to check the schedule. Definitely worth the stop if you enjoy art

What art was there I really enjoyed, but I think it took us less than 30 minutes to see everything. But, the price was right (free, you can make a donation) and a really easy walk from the rotunda. Definitely a worth stop on a visit to grounds- just double check the hours open though.

This Art Museum is a wonderful thing for Charlottesville to have. It is housed in a beautiful, old building that has been well kept. Well worth a stop!

We visited the Fralin Museum of Art for the first time and were very pleased we did. The current main exhibit, up until February 2, 2014 is a retrospective of a little known French impressionist, Emile Charmy. So interesting to view with a fresh untainted eye, the works of someone prolific in her time, who exhibited works along side Ingres,... More

The Fralin art museum on the campus of the University of Virginia is a precious spot for art lovers. The exhibits are consistently high quality - plenty of art to fill your eyes but not such a large museum that your feet can't take it! We went to the Ansel Adams show this summer. I am a photographer and have... More

Saw the Ansel Adams exhibit which we loved. Other larger room was closed as they were preparing to mount a new exhibit.

This is a great museum and a great addition to the university, but make sure their is a show in town to get the full experience. It is a great place where you can see some students artwork, and an nice Asian collection.

Arrived as the exhibits were in transition so wasn't much to see. Tried to peek in the room where the Ansel Adams photos were along the walls and shooed away by the guard, unmoved by my request to just look through the doorway at the advertised exhibit I had come to see.
