Nice pedestrian street with several blocks of shops, restaurants, a cinema, ice skating rink. Well worth a walk-through when in Charlottesville.

The Downtown Mall is a pedestrian street where you will find lots of good restaurants, stores of all kinds, the Paramount Theater and an ice skating rink. It's an adorable place to go with family and have a wonderful time, playing, talking, walking, eating and having fun.

Main Street was bricked over in the mid-1970s to make a pedestrian walkway. Over time it was extended, and an ice rink built as well as a Pavilion at one end. From April to September the Pavilion is the site of "Fridays at 5", a free music event that gives people a reason to come to the Mall. There are... More

This place won't come up a a restaurant/place to eat, but it is! There is a real soda fountain in the back where for a couple of bucks you can get sandwich and a soda, or an ice cream. The ladies who run the fountain are always nice. If you visit the rest of the pharmacy , it has everything... More

Wow. Just great shopping and food. We started our day around 9:30 and shopped until 12:30. We could have stayed longer but we did not want to be around when the football game let out. LOL Local trolley car provides free transportation to and from. Large parking garage about 500 feet from the entrance.

We were terribly disappointed in the mall. We heard wonderful things about it but it was dead when we got there at 6pm on a Saturday. Everything was closed!

We arrived by car after visiting Monticello and was looking for a meal before returning home. It was great to stroll around the area and look at all the restaurants. As it was still relatively early not all were open. A very nice area with a great atmosphere with many people strolling around. A great place to visit.

This walking mall is not the best I've visited or the worst: it is fun to stroll along, check out some very interesting stores, stop for a bite at some of the best restaurants in town, and if you make it down to the very end and have some chalk handy, you can leave a message on the free speech... We arrived in late afternoon and came straight into Charlottesville historic downtown. What a lovely town! We have two young children and even as the evening drew in there were families still out in the area having dinner and soaking up the atmosphere. Loved the little stores and buskers and it reminded me of summer holidays as a child in... More

I always enjoy strolling thru the buskers, venders and smelling all the foods from surrounding restaurants. The blending of various cultures from Irish musicians playing on their accordion to Nepalese venders selling Tibetan singing bowls and wool hats. A very safe and enjoyable way to spend an evening.
