This area was perfect for strolling, window shopping, and then grabbing a bite to eat at a great restaurant while people-watching outside.

Older buildings, lots of walking ,no free parking for your car. The free trolley (bus) is a nice idea and recommended. Walking the older streets is nice, expensive shops. Christian's Pizza was a good place to stop for a slice of pizza.

Ok so here is one historic town center that is- almost restored? Pedestrian-only mall is a great idea but the absence of quality stores ( except for one) made this a yawner. Foot traffic was sparse. Likewise the absence of street shows/ acts to attract crowds was disappointing ( at least during our visit).

We were in town for a wedding and someone suggested that we go to the pedestrian mall for dinner. While it was Sunday evening, and many shops were closed, we had a nice dinner at Citizen Burger Bar (you can read my review on TripAdvisor) and window-shopped. We drove around the area a lot but ended up coming back to... More

Lots of people rave about how quaint and beautiful Historic Charlottesville is and that it's a must see. Don't believe the hype. Overpriced coffee shops and burger joints don't qualify as quaint. Locals are rides and pretentious. Not impressed.

Went to Pavilion to see a show. The Pavilion is located at the end of the downtown mall. Great location with restaurants everywhere. Staff at the Pavilion were great and show was awesome

Shopping, restaurants and entertainment all in one place. This is a great place to visit for all ages. While this is located close to the UVA campus, there is a sophistication about it that is usually missing when you are around a college area. Very well done.

Be warned about going to the mall on a Sunday--there is an odd man who walks back and forth clapping as loud as he can. It can spoil your experience of eating outside. Local workers told me he is there every Sunday and lives at the homeless shelter nearby. It spooked me!

After a full day of touring Monticello we walked around the outdoor mall. It was a beautiful spring night and several street musicians were playing. After cruising for a place to eat we decided on Italian and ate al fresco at Sal's Cafee Italia. Eating in the open air center of the mall was just like eating on the street... More
