Bristol is very proud to call itself the "birthplace of country music", a worthy title given the quality of this new museum. Those deciding to tour this facility will not be disappointed. The exhibits are remarkable; opportunities for interaction abound (you can mix a song and record your own version); and the multimedia exhibits are stunning. If you are in... More

We drove down to Bristol from New York and were in awe at what was done to this building to make it a state-of-the-art museum. It was interactive and really informative. My daughter plays ukulele and loves country music (age 11)....she found it as appealing as we did. The museum hosts were wonderful. They were knowledgeable about the venue, surrounding... More

We were there on opening day for what is now called The Birthplace of Country Music Museum in downtown Bristol, VA, and learned a lot about the origins & evolution of Country Music. There were lots of interactive displays and an insightful video with four musicians who discussed & demonstrated the various playing styles of the first Country Music artists... More

This museum, a Smithsonian affiliate, just opened last week. We arrived at 10:00 when it opened on a rainy morning and had the place to ourselves. So many touch screens and movies and music to listen to. We spent over 2-1/2 hours perusing & touching everything. Great fun.

If you want to find out what the history of a region is, and tastefully done, and you have an interest in finding out about the folks in Appalachia, this is your stop. Its a Smithsonian museum, and done the best you will find, if the word "museum" turns you away....forget it, this place will capture you with site, and... More

Bristol is proud of the fact that the Carter family recorded the first country music in Bristol. This would be a must visit for anyone even if they are not crazy about country music.

Visited the ACMA Museum, interesting but not by modern attraction standards. Right many old instruments from a few notables but too heavy on the photo side. Bristol is the birthplace of country music and deserves more respect from the country music legends who should contribute more to assure the history is preserved. Next door is the ACMA Auditorium where we... More
