The tour was great and very informative. There is so much history to be learned and not just on the families involved but the history of southwest Virginia and the US before the Revolutionary War. Our guide knew so much. The grounds are nice. It's not the biggest place, but it is a great stop.

Very informative tour guide of the home. It is very well taken care of and there are many pieces that are original to the Preston family. I really enjoyed the tour.

The tour guide was terrific. She knew her information and gave a complete history of the home and the family members. The tour was longer than expected, but you didn't even realize it.

Great place to take little kids or even older ones who like history. There are some interesting things to do there and it is really cheap. I would highly recommend it. The staff is very nice.

Enjoyed our visit very much! April was very animated & shared a lot of history of the Preston family, starting with the sail from Ireland. Loved to see the furnishings. Very well maintained property. Go & take the kids!

History abounds in this well-kept colonial era property, which is located on the grounds of Virginia Tech. Learn about the history of brave pioneers who settled the wilderness in the western boundaries of the colonies, and how they survived the French and Indian Wars and the War for Independence. Learn about Mary Draper Ingalls who was captured and taken to... More

It's hard not to enjoy this beautiful place. There is so much history in this little plantation. I've been here multiple time for various reasons and have always learned something new.

Off the beaten path on the Virginia Tech campus. Tours given of the 1774 manor house by volunteers. Modest entry fee. House and furnishings are of the period of 1770 - 1860's. Self guided tours of out buildings (including kitchen garden and blacksmith shop). If you enjoy history, this is a really good experience. Nice gift shop.
