Love this place. Small area that skis big is probably the best way to put it. It offers that traditional ski vibe that is rarely found in the industry anymore. Skiing is first, the rest is details. The atmosphere of free-heeler's ripping and whooping it up under the single chair builds anticipation for those riding up. You can't wait to... More

MRG does not make snow. That's the first thing to know. I only ski at MRG after recent snow fall. I love this mountain, the people are warm, friendly, gracious, and are polite skiiers who share the slope and show consideration. The level of skiing is outstanding. The single chair limits the number of skiiers that can be on a... More

Where do I start? I've telemarked/skied/snowboarded for 29 years all over New England and out west. Everything from tiny, rustic Hickory in upstate NY to Whistler/Blackcomb. Mad River Glen is by far the worst alpine experience I've ever had (twice). As a novice telemarker 5 years ago I made the trip for a lesson as the mountain is hailed as... More

Get back to the basics with real skiing in a trully skiers mountain! No Snowboards allowed, you quickly realise how enjoyable it is not to have to worry about getting run over by one... narrow passage, great moguls and a very friendly and familly atmosphere. No fashion show, just great skiers! Mad River Glenn, Ski it if you can! More

Young, old, families, all are at home here. The single chair is legendary. There's nothing like it anywhere. More

Their ban on snowboarding is shortsighted and pretentious. What's worse is that shareholders exhibit a sense of superiority and smugness because of it. Shame on Mad River! More

For starters, the lines aren't nearly as intolerable as other resorts. The worst I've seen the single is 10, maybe 15 mins tops. Hey, it's a single. There are challenging trails - greens are blues anywhere else, blues are black, and blacks are off the chart. That said, any skill level can have a blast. The under-exposed Birdland area is... More

Loved MRG - the terrain is far superior to neighboring resorts for advanced / expert skiers. Loved the long, steep bumps! Great ski school too, and one of the few places on the east cost where you can get a tele lesson and rent tele gear. Really nice lodge with a trusting, community vibe...pub is a mellow spot to top... This is a old circa 1970 ski area which is owned by a skiier coop.Very little has changed since 1970.They have old chairs ,including a single chair which services the main area. This causes the area to have long lines on the weekend. There is very little snowmaking,or grooming. Now on the plus side you have great tree skiing and almost perfect... More
