We passed a bunch of covered bridges in Vermont. this was one of the easiest to get to and take photos of. It's in pretty good condition.

A typical Vermont covered bridge, quaint and a nice example of its type. Drive through from the main road and park in the little turn-around. The most probable story is that a high school student in the 70's wrote an fictional essay about Emily and it was picked up as "fact". Still, a nice photogenic stop and fairly close to... More

Stopped to see Emily. Sadly nothing happened but I got some good shots of the bridge with the fall colors.

We visited Stowe in September, 2013, and made it a point to find as many covered bridges as we could. This bridge can be found on the map distributed at the Stowe Visitor's Center, but beware of misleading scale. The map is not to scale, and it makes things seem much closer than they really are. We finally found this... More

Located a short drive from Stowe on the Gold Brook Road, the bridge is known locally as Emily's Bridge, being Vermont's only haunted bridge, by a ghost named Emily. There are stories of Emily. One is that she was to elope with a lover who was meeting her at the bridge, and when he didn't show, she hung herself from... More

This is not that well publicised locally, and a bit hard to find. It would be nice if they had not stuck a traffic sign right in the front of it, so it showed on your photo. Its a genuine covered bridge. There is not much more to say about it really, but you will need a map to find... More

Our first visit to the bridge. It's just outside of Stowe and a little hard to find, but we managed. It's near the very blue house on Goldbrook Road. Love it. We'll be back.

Covered bridge with a sad story of love gone wrong. Has a real story behind it. You can google Emily's bridge for the story. In a pretty sitting. We visited multiple covered bridges and took a lot of pictures. Talk to the locals they will tell you the story how the bridge was named for Emily.

Easy to reach from Stowe, climb down to the brook if you can, to get a nice and alternative view on the bridge from the small river.
