VINS affords its visitors the unique opportunity to see the type of birds they would rarely see otherwise. Many of the birds have been permanently injured through accidents. The birds are housed in huge cages that recreate their natural habitat as best they can. You can tell the birds are treated with the utmost care and attention. It is very... More

My children, grandchildren and I went to VINS last summer and the grounds were beautiful, the raptor displays were breathtaking and the staff was wonderful. I was so close to the birds, I could see every detail. The bald eagles were outstanding! We walked on the paths through the woods and enjoyed a very relaxing and peaceful afternoon communing with... One would never have the opportunity to see these amazing raptors up close in the wild. But they are here for the kooking at VINS. The staff was knowlegeable and helpful too. My favorites were the owls. So inscrutable.

If you're going to the Quechee state park, stop by here, too (just down the road). One of its primary purposes appears to be a home for injured raptors who cannot be released into the wild again, and the staff have created a great little place around this function.

First and foremost this is a bird rehab centre. Not huge but we spent a couple of hours and had a great experience. Educational as well and talks were aimed at adults as well as kids. Recommended.

My husband and I have visited several raptor centers, and VINS is by far the BEST! They had a large variety of birds (20?), as well as turtles. Their educators gave dynamic presentations, and the birds performed well despite their handicaps. I didn't go out on the handicapped trail (I use a scooter), but everywhere I did go was completely... Great way to spend an afternoon - wandering around the various exhibits of raptors they are caring for. Its exciting to be able to see eagles, owls, hawks and other birds of prey up close. Such magnificent creatures! These are all birds that have some sort of injury that keeps them from being sent back to the wild. They all... More

Finally had a chance to take my grandson's to VINS - we had an absolutely fabulous day! We finished the afternoon off with the hike down Quechee Gorge and, of course, some icecream!
