Every time we travel to Woodstock (about 5 times a year), I try to make it a point to spend a few hours at VINS! You learn about the local raptors, get close to a bald eagle, snowy owls, etc, learn about what YOU can do to decrease the amount of injured birds....truly amazing, magical, and informative for all ages.

We planned to xcountry ski in Woodstock, but it was a bitter cold day with icy conditions, so we were looking for something to do with some but not a lot of outside environment. We were able to walk through the facility, take in the various exhibits and get some exercise. It was not a busy visitor day, but the... More

VINS is located only 1-1/2 miles from my bed and breakfast. I visit quite often and always enjoy viewing the raptors.

Excellent facility on westbound side of rte 4 to see eagles, owls (!!), kestrels, vultures, peregrine falcons, red-tailed hawks and rare non-native species. Many of these birds are permanent residents as they cannot be released back into the wild due to injury or prior imprinting with humans. Birds have been brought to this center for rehab or residency from across... More

Center has about dozen or so birds to see. Has feeding times but didn't get a chance to see it. If you have some time it is nice place to stop and see.

VINS is definitely one of the coolest attractions in Southern VT. They have raptor demonstrations, beautiful birds in natural aviaries, educational demos and a beautiful walk. You can also "adopt a raptor." My son adopted a snowy owl and received all kinds of info and pictures for the following year.

This Nature Centre was a lot less "dumbed down" than we expected and obviously run by passionate scientists. We learnt a lot about the birds and enjoyed seeing them at close quarters. Compares very favourable with similar locations in Europe.

They had educational programs you could attend, and walking trails. They had eagles, and hawks, and owls, and others I can't remember. I love zoos and I love animals, but with the zoos I always hate that the animals are out of their natural habitats and it just seems wrong. What impresses me about this place is that all of... More

We like to support Raptor Centers so this was on our list while visiting Queeche Gorge. We enjoyed our visit and the interesting talk and demo about raptors. Others have described the center so I won't go into detail, but you could spend a couple hours here, especially if you go to the various programs held thruout the day. The... More

What a wonderful way to spend the afternoon! The VINS is small, but it gives visitors the opportunity to view these amazing raptors up close. The snowy owls and bald eagles were breathtaking. Plan ahead, and schedule your visit to coincide with one of the raptor shows, where visitors get to view the birds in flight. Visiting the VINS is... More
