This is a great park year round. In the winter enjoy cross country skiing and great sledding. In the Spring, Summer and Autumn there are trails to walk or hike, facilities for picnics. There is also a tower to climb which gives a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains and Central Vermont.Hubbard Park is a gem in Montpelier. In the... More

I found the hiking trail into Hubbard Park behind the State House on a chilly winter's morning and decided to give it a go despite the cold & snow. Wow - what a gorgeous path that was! It winded up the hill through a beautiful woody forest, culminating with the Hubbard Park Tower at the top, a century-old stone structure... More

3 different trails go up a tower. I encourage the long way down as you get a bird's eye view of the city. Really cool.

Just go and hike to the tower. In the Fall you can see beautiful leaves and the mountains that surround the area. It is much easier to get there if you ask a local. Depending on which way you exit, you can come out behind the State Capitol building. There are really interesting benches and rock formations that look like... More

The short walk to this observation tower is right up our alley, but the drive to get there was not! Look at JWren's review also. "The second" entrance he refers to is the way our GPS instructed us to get to the park. It was crazy! Steep and winding! We continued down the road when we exited, which was JWren's... More

The park is on the hill behind the city. It has two entrances, one on either end of the city. The first one we tried was the one closest to the interstate exit. After driving UP there it was closed off to traffic. So we went through town around to the other. We thought the first entrance was steep to... More

We were looking for a nice park to share a box pizza & bottle of wine for a afternoon picnic. Was a little surprised at the lack of facilities at the park. Picnic tables sparse, unmarked roads and trails. We did find a spot to relax and enjoy but not what we were expecting......

The only reason that I did not give this park an excellent is that they have had some difficulty recently with "bad" dog owners not reeling in aggressive or overly eager dogs.

Great lookout tower and woods make this a popular destination for folks to seek nature. Many families and dogs!
