I have lived in Manchester since 1974 and the Northshire book store although it has not been here as long as I have the building it is in has been there a lot longer! I was an Inn , Bar and restaurant at one time. Now it is by far the best Book store in Vermont if not New England!... More

Whenever we are in Manchester Village bee bopping around the shops and restaurants, it is always unanimous that we stop at Northshire! When we split up, we always meet there. They have a cool vibe going on with all you could want in books. They also have toys, some clothes, jewelry, a deli/ snack bar, a large seating area as... More

I have been visiting the Northshire for probably 30 years or so. They have a great selection of books, including a floor devoted to children's books and games. They have hand written reviews for many of the books that have been written by their employees, who are a very knowledgeable group. They also stock assorted gifts. Their cafe is always... More

A warm and inviting store with an amazing selection of books, records and gifts for every age group and every interest. There is also an attached cafe and an attached children's play area. A truly unique experience

Went to Manchester on a day trip while working on Lake George and this little book shop was a treat. Some great quirkey items and spent a good bit of money but got items you would not see anywhere else.

I can and have spent the entire day here. So much to see and do and a great little cafe with good food. There are also music CD's and unusual gifts to peruse. The help is knowledgeable and happy to help. What more could you ask for in a book store? Oh, and there are the readings, book signings and... More

It's more than a bookstore. You could spend hours there. Great selection of books (and extremely competent and helpful book sellers) as well as lots of just plain interesting stuff...nothing you really need but lots of fun and interesting things you will love. Outstanding children's department too. And old fashioned amenities, like they will gift wrap your purchases.

It was such a wonderful treat to spend time in this store. My only regret was that we didn't have more time. Northshire has an amazing collection of books, a wonderful and creative layout, helpful and friendly staff--and is also filled with lots of interesting non-book items. It reminded me of the "good ole' days" when terrific independent bookstores could... More

It was my first time to visit this amazing store. I concentrated mainly in the children's section for my 3 grandchildren and couldn't believe the amount of books, unique toys, and clothing there. It was like a library only 10x better. The staff was extremely helpful and cheerful like the atmosphere. Colorful, and inviting ..you name it they had it.

My husband spend a weekend every fall in Manchester Vermont, and this is where we spend a lot of that weekend. It is the best bookstore I've ever visited. Enormous selection of books complete with hundreds of staff reviews, gifts, cozy nooks to sit and read, and incredibly friendly staff. I love this place. Great little attached cafe to have... More
