We went there on a lark after the front desk attendant of our hotel told us it was great. We were headed to Maine and needed reading material. OMG. What a find! First, when you enter, you can fill out a postcard, give it to the front desk and they will stamp and mail for you. Adorbs! Then, walking through... More

In the day of Barnes and Noble and Starbucks it is so refreshing to find a local book store with a great selection along with a local coffee house with a wide variety of local bakery items.

This is a great place to spend some time. It is easy to get lost in the different floors of books. Stop at the cafe for a snack too.

Just absolutely the best bookstore I've ever been in. Very quaint and they even have a lovely and interesting restaurant/deli on the premises. Don't miss the used book section for good bargains. Most weekends they have visiting well known authors discussing their newest books. There's also a large selection of gift items here and they feature a large selection of... More

If you enjoy books, and quaint bookshops, proper ones, this is the place to go. Often the shape and style of the building contributes to the charm, and it certainly does here. There are little nooks to explore for hours, the selection is outstanding, and there are helpful handwritten reviews by staff posted on the shelves that can point out... More

A wonderful multiple level store with a great selection of new and used books and an attached coffee shop. Pleasant, knowledgeable staff. Great place to spend some time. So sad there are so few of these left.

We like this little cultural window to rest of the world from our little piece of green mountains heaven. My young kids love it and it is always a treat to go to the Northshire Book store. The little cafe there is a nice addition

Book stores like this are becoming a rarity with Amazon's ease of use. Even so, there is nothing quite like roaming through a good book store - and Northshire fills that need perfectly. In addition to having a great selection of new and used books, the staff is wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable. While I was checking out a man approached... More

A wide array of books, beautifully displayed on multiple levels in the store. Interesting author events offered in a comfortable and quiet setting. Very helpful staff.
