Great trails

Beautiful walking trail all around the river. You can see beautiful trees and foliage, and the views off the trails are stupendous.

We walked to Hamilton falls and the nearby dam. A stunning gentle walk along the river. It follows an old railway line, long since defunct. At this time of year the colours of the leaves are outstanding. A small climb up if you want to get to the top of the falls...persist as it looks as if it goes into... More

A Beautiful autumn day---a lovely companion--the falling leaves and a wonderful autumn leaf show of all hues combine to make this a highlight of any trip to Vermont. Wonderful valley, wonderful river and the rewards of the little asides to see the offshoots off the old rail trail. Go !!!!

worth going early and taking the waterfall hike. Easy walk, lovely views. Be carefull though NOT to continue towards Windham Hill road, as you will end up 12 miles from the entrance of the park...

We went to Jamaica, Vermont to film the whitewater dam release of the West River, which brings in hundreds of rafters and kayakers yearly. Since this was our 1st time, we had no idea the amount of people attending this release until we arrived. We were impressed by how the helpful the staff were, all the while handling the crazy... I travel to JSP every year for a whitewater pilgrimage during the West River dam release. Meticulously-kept and spacious sites, numerous tent and lean-to options, and helpful, friendly staff make it a favorite trip for literally 100s of paddlers. The boat/ paddler shuttle is well-run and efficient, the campground is beautiful and well-groomed, and the hiking/biking trails allow for extra... More

Not much of a camper, but stayed here twice for the West Fest - an annual whitewater paddling event (usually last weekend of September). Beautiful part of Vermont and as far as camping areas go - this is very nice. Clean, friendly, quiet and had a spot right on the river. Very peaceful.

What a little gem! Beautiful, well-marked hiking paths made this a real treat on a warm summer day. Mostly shaded trails so you're not getting overheated. Nice river views. Didn't camp here but looks like a very nice little family-oriented campground.

This camp ground is very nice, always well kept. Hiking trails are good and sites are well groomed. New VT state rules about generators is restictive.

I had seen this hike recommended online and by our inn keepers at the West River Inn. We started from the parking area and enjoyed the nice steady 2 miles along the river bed. The trail was not packed just some other hikers and kids on bikes from the camp ground. It was gorgeous along the river (even in the... More
