An Experience...

A neat experience if you've never done it before. Not cheap though. One car and four people $22. Lady at ticket booth very pleasant.

We went on a tour of Shelburne Farm and it was just wonderful. Right on the shores of Lake Champlain , We are a retired couple, so instead of doing the tour on foot which is pretty extensive We took a tram and the tour guide described everything to us about the farm and the history of it.. After we... More

If you find yourself in the northern part of New York and your close to Lake Champlain and you want to go to Burlington VT and you don't want to drive around the upper part of Lake Champlain , or you don't want to back track to Crown Point to drive over the bridge then for and adventure take the... The people at Lake Champlain Ferries are always awesome! We usually wait no more than 10min. and it's very simple. I wish they accepted credit cards but other than that, they are great!

We took the ferry from Essex, NY to Charlotte, VT, about 25 min ferry ride. Cost $14 for two adults plus our vehicle; cash only. The weather was crisp, but clear, and the lake was perfectly smooth. We were able to get out of our car and take in the surroundings on the lake. Getting to the Essex landing from... More

I crossed the lake using the ferries twice and enjoyed the trip both times. Weather permitting you will get really scenic views of the lake as you cross. It is a car ferry but I travelled on it both times without a car and it was perfectly fine. The fare is a reasonable price ($8 without a vehicle) but do... More

During our recent road trip in southern VT, my wife suggested that we drive up to Charlotte and take the ferry across Lake Champlain to New York. Turned out to be a delightful little side trip. The drive up to Charlotte in VT is not particularly pretty, but the ferry runs frequently, only about a 30 minute ride across the... More

We got the Amtrack from Montreal $25 and you do not need ESTA, about 2 hrs out near Plattsburgh US customs came on board and $6 fee we were processed. Cannot bring fruit across the border. The train dropped us at Port Kent at a tiny siding, we then wallet about 20 metres to the lakes edge and purchased tickets... More

Early September, a bit of a nip in the air, and Burlington is steeped in the Arts, along Pine street street filled with old industrial buildings, now dedicated to art studios, and fantastic artisans who make great lighting from old industrial hardware, as well as solid well-designed wooden furniture made with real elbow grease, good tools & solid Vermont craftsmanship.... We took the ferry from Burlington, VT to Port Kent, NY and back again. It was a very pleasant and peaceful trip across beautiful Lake Champlain. It was not too crowded on the boat so it was relaxing and quiet. We got off at Port Kent and had a bit of a look around. There is a nice little shop/cafe... More
