A few minutes south of the State Park beach and campgrounds is where the Lake Champlain ferry crosses to Burlington. About an hour, it is a beautiful ride on a sunny day. Best of all, you can park the car on the New York side, buy a return ticket as a passenger and spend the day in Burlington, a very... More

A bottle of magic hat local beer aboard a lake champ ferry is a lovely way to pass a day! Reasonably priced.

Leave an hour before sunset, on a full moon night, if possible. And lift your face into the breeze. Bring a picnic, grab a beverage on board (or bring one). Then ride back under the full moon. Simply marvelous way to be on Lake Champlain for two hours if you go from Burlington, VT. and let someone else do the... More

We did a road trip from Niagara Falls to Acadia National Park this summer. We decided to cross lake Champlain through Port Kent so we would enjoy the scenery. It didn't disappoint! We had an amazing experience in our first car and passenger ferry. We went up to the top level to feel the wind and take it all in.... More

We took the car ferry from Burlington to Port Kent, NY, and back this week. The weather was hot and sunny and being on the lake was a nice relief from the heat. This ferry crossing takes about a little more than an hour each way. A one way trip for an adult passenger (no car) is $8; round trip... More

Not only do I get an hour boat ride on Lake Champlain I also get to bring car. We went from Kent Port to Burlington on a trip across north New England and this was really well priced and the kids had a blast on the boat. Small gift shop and a limited snack bar but the views were spectacular... More

I was trying to get from Montreal to Burlington and took the Amtrak to Port Kent and then caught the ferry. Although I can't say much for Amtrak, the ferry ride was beautiful and relaxing. The ferry terminal in Port Kent is just down the hill from the train stop, super easy to find. Everyone working there was friendly and... More

It is a scenic ride across the lake, it is not user friendly for the general public because they only accept cash. As a big business and the only way to cross the lake (can we say monopoly?), they should not be accepting only cash. There are travelers from all over and should not be forced to pay cash or... More

I have travelled to and from VT to NY on the Ferry but this was the first year that we brought the children. They thoroughly enjoyed the ride, the views and scenery. We will do this again but next time to a different location.
