This wonderful, nostalgic property has lived at least three lives. Once upon a time beginning with its construction in 1903 this was a grand old hotel, then a girls' summer camp, and now a lovely Vermont Inn where events such as weddings, corporate retreats, wine tastings, etc. are held. I spent many wonderful summers at this location when I was... More

This place is NOT in Burlington, although apparently their PO Box is. You need to get it listed under "Grand Isle", where it is actually located. You are not serving people well by confusing them on this. Things that are listed as "nearby" are in Burlington; very bad information for non-locals. Anyone trying to locate it in Burlington will be... More

A nostalgic turn of the century hotel carefully preserved for use as a wedding venue. FABULOUS food and service. Best wedding I've attended, hands down.

Historical and lovely. Went to a wedding here: everything was perfect: food top notch (I'm an ex-chef) the staff worked like crazy, but invisibly so the day just flowed. A wonderful place.

Gorgeous mountain views on the lake. GILH offers a memorable event with really relaxing atmosphere. It feels like visiting family. I think it was pricey for what we were wanting. Ultimately, my daughter chose Basin Harbor for her wedding with so many people traveling from out of state and country.

This is the place to rock in your rocking chair, and soak in the history of Vermont. Beautifully restored hotel.

We stayed here for two nights for a wedding. It was definitely an experience! The house is an enormous historic property, with all that comes with it. The biggest challenge was the lack of air conditioning, on some 90 degree days. We had a hard time sleeping, even with every window open and fans going. Very convenient to have our... More

Gosh I wish this place had air conditioning. I would go back in a heartbeat. But, with no AC and with Vermont summers usually in the high 80's to mid 90's, this was a very uncomfortable night. Room was spotless, the shared baths were always available, and the managers were very nice. I just think people need to be warned... More
