My wife and I have sailed with Captain Mike Crowley twice now and both times have been nothing short of memorable. There is no better way to see Lake Champlain than sailing under the power of just the wind. It is so peaceful, so relaxing. And the conversation with your fellow passengers and crew is always fun. This is a... More

We celebrated our 25th anniversery with an evening sail. It was great and Mike was a good host. We enjoyed a similar sail on our wedding day on Nantucket and Mike and crew gave us a new special sail, thanks!

We very much enjoyed our recent visit to beautiful Vermont, and our sunset cruise on the Friend Ship. Capt. Mike and his able assistant were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about the lake and the history of the area. Guests are encouraged to bring along beverages and food if they wish. On our trip the winds were uncooperative but the crew... More

I'm so happy that you were able to sail with us this summer and you enjoyed your time on the Friend Ship even though with winds didn't cooperate. Sometimes we have days with there isn't enough wind to turn the motor off, but sails always go up. I try to make every cruise on the Friend Ship a fun time... More

We spent most of an afternoon sailing with Captain Mike on Lake Champlain. After clearing the harbor, the sails were raised and we cruised in silence and enjoyed the beautiful fall foliage around the lake shore. Captain Mike was quite entertaining and provided helpful tips on other sites and information about the Lake and his schooner. Despite having to motor... More

The sloop is the most comfortable and refreshing way to experience the lake, short of having your own boat! It was a lovely day and we gently sailed around the bay. A small group of fellow travelers were outgoing and we shared refreshments. My daughter and I brought along a bottle wine, bread, cheese and fruit. I hope to go... More

Our ride in the Friend Ship provided a wonderful view of Lake Champlain. The seating encouraged socializing with the other passengers and crew. It was easy to become engaged in conversation with total strangers. A great introduction to sailing for children. You are encouraged to bring food and drinks including wine and bear. The crew will serve what you bring.... More

My husband and I sailed on an overcast day with cool temperatures and loved it all! The captain and his mate were totally comfortable with navigating sails and rudder and engaging in great conversation at the same time. We loved seeing the harbors, cliffs, islands, varying shorelines and lakeside communities, as well as hearing more of the history of Lake... More

My wife, Dalila, and I were spending 24 hours in Burlington, VT: 4pm Sunday to 4pm Monday. Sunday evening we walked down to the lake to watch the sunset. As we did so, we considered taking a boat tour of Lake Champlain the next afternoon. There was one big boat in dock that does dinner cruises and whatnot, but it... More

Thanks for the great review. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your time on the Friend Ship. Even though I always like to have a full boat, one passenger or twelve, we always sail. I do hope you come sail with us again, and always make it a part of your time when visiting Vermont. Thanks, Capt. Mike More

This was one of the highlights of our trip -- a sunset sailing cruise on a old-fashioned schooner (though built more recently). The captain is an old-salt of a sailor, who's likely seen it all, but he's a blast to sail with and, it's clear, he knows how to safely and enjoyable take his guests out on the lake. I'd... More

Thanks for the great review. I'm glad you enjoyed you sunset sail with us. It really is the best place to watch the sunset. As for the old salt, I may be salty but not so old, and I still haven't seen Champ yet. I hope you do come sail with us again, the next time you are in Vermont.... More
