Owner description: Chosen by Yankee Magazine this year as one of the best attractions in New England, Queen City Ghostwalk offers up plenty of history, mystery and spooky fun. Tour creator Thea Lewis, author of "Haunted Burlington: Spirits of Vermont's Queen City", "Ghosts and Legends of Lake Champlain", and "Haunted Inns and Ghostly Getaways of Vermont", is renowned as the area's foremost authority on Burlington's ghostly lore. She brings guests on a journey back in time, introduces them to local legends, and paints a chilling picture of Burlington long ago. Tours include Burlington's downtown, wicked waterfront, local cemeteries, and spirits at the University of Vermont. Tickets for all tours are available at FlynnTix Regional Box Office.

My husband and I attended the Queen City Ghostwalk over the weekend and I can't believe how perfect it turned out to be to get us into the Halloween spirit! Thea Lewis, our tour guide, was amazing and had a fantastic presence with the group. The tour was so informative, yet completely entertaining, which is rare for a historical tour.... More

Here's how much I enjoy Thea's tours: I've been on the Darkness Falls tour twice, and the Ghosts of UVM tour once, and I plan to join the Graveside Gatherings and Wicked Waterfront tours in future. On my second Darkness Falls tour, Thea had learned and incorporated new information since the first, which is a sign of how passionate she... More

Thea does a lovely tour throughout Burlington. I've lived here all my life and never realized the rich history I was missing out on. A perfect fall evening with my family, we are already looking forward to choosing another one of her tours

My family and I really enjoyed the tour! The history of Burlington is fascinating and Thea did a fantastic job of incorporating facts, "fiction?", and fun into the tour. The age range of our group was 55 to age 3 and we all had a great time! My teen-aged son was fascinated and his younger cousins loved touring around and... More

I have lived in Burlington for almost 20 years and found Thea's Darkness Falls tour quite the education! Learning about this little town's spooky past makes me love living here even more. I think that the Ghost Walk is a great introduction to Burlington for visitors or lifers. Me and a small group of friends chose to go to the... More

The only thing spooky about this is the $15 missing from my wallet! It was not scary, didn't incorporate much factual local history, and had LOTS of plugs to buy the tour guides books.

We are quite confounded. We highlight haunts of an 18th century smuggler, 1800's railroad magnate, 20th century Burlington entrepreneur, serial killers, the war of 1812, violence surrounding anti-Catholicism in early Burlington, and more. As your guide, I do mention stories from my books, most notably, to ask folks not to record video, which is prohibited by my publisher. Apparently, you... More

I was disappointed at the quality of this tour. Although you learned a bit about the history of Burlington, the experience was mediocre at best. Save your money for a haunted house or scary movie.

Haunted houses and scary movies are good, imaginative, fun. We have been known to visit a few of those ourselves! But, our stories are a different kind of nightmare- as real as we can discern, based on local legends and lots of research. It sounds like you came for a squeal-worthy adventure, perhaps boasting some made-up monsters dripping theatrical blood.... More

We went for the Darkness Falls Tours. Although it was a dark, rainy and windy evening, the tour failed to create any impression on us. First of all, the places where we stood to listen to the spooky stories were mostly vibrant, well lit and at the heart of the city and the stories were mostly about appearances and disappearances... Gentle Tour Guest: We are sorry our walk made such a slight impression on you. Perhaps, rather than adding to your experience as you anticipated, the rain and wind served as a distraction? The evening you toured with us, many in the group were without umbrellas, so we did modify our route very slightly in the interest of providing comfort... More

We went on the darkness falls tour on 9/13. it was cool and misty which added an eerie feeling to the tour. Thea did a fantastic job with her story telling about the spirits that lurk the downtown Burlington area bringing them to life. We visited about 7 sites and each had an interesting tale. The tour takes a little over... More

Overall this was a great experience but i will stop a little shy of the 5-bagger. Lady who did the stories was very sincere and the whole presentation was good. All in i thought it was fun but the tour could have been a little longer and maybe incorporated an indoor haunt or two which would have made it awesome.... More

We'd love to go inside a few locations, too, and many years ago, we did. Unfortunately, due to the broad mix of guests we attract, from the very young to the elderly, this is no longer possible. Wet shoes going from outdoor to indoor terrain invite a host of possible mishaps, and large groups during our holiday season are too... More
