Today, the mountains, desert and untamed rivers flowing in deep canyons, support an array of life. Petroglyphs hint at earlier cultures. Later, homesteaders and outlaws found refuge here. An outstanding museum carefully put together for the visitor. And good drives and hikes if you want. Hard to fault.

We spent a wonderful morning at this unique national monument. Where else can one see many large dinosaur fossils still embedded in the rocks, all mixed up together? And in air-conditioning :) .There are plenty of fossil exhibits, and the nature trail by the quarry is great. Some small fossils and chance to see eerie landscapes, but best done in... More

Really liked the well organized visitor's center and display site where the bone excavations were housed. Nice use of technology to explain the various diggings and their findings.

It is worth the visit but you can really only spend an hour or two at the most, not that much to see. We took the trail back down to the visitor center instead of the shuttle. Not much to see on the trail but it gave the kids a chance to run around.

If Dinosaur's are of interest to you this is a very good place to go, it's a little out of the way but worth the drive. The volume of dinosaur bones on display in a big rock formation is pretty amazing. The stop will only take a couple of hours but we found it a worthwhile stop.

After you see the dinosaur bones (which can take a few hours to really enjoy) there is so much more to this park than you might imagine. Plan to spend several days if you can - seeing the canyons from the rim (Harpers Corner) and from water level (go rafting!) and don't miss Echo Park if you can get there... More

The Quarry Exhibit Hall, entered through the Utah gate is fascinating and probably the best known feature of the Dinosaur National Monument. Less well known is the Canyon section entered through the Colorado gate. The views of the Green/Yampa confluence from Harpers Corner are breathtaking. The drive down to Echo Park is also a must-do but really does call for... More

I actually came upon the Monument on a trip where it was not on the agenda. A most fortunate occurance. There is a small museum/gift shop where you board a tram for the trip up to the Exhibit Hall. Depending on the: wait, weather and your physical condition, you may choose to walk up the hill to the Exhibit Hall.... More
