Swaner Nature Preserve was not quite what we expected. The facility is pretty small with only a few exhibits inside although they did provide some fun picture opportunities. Recently took the kids for a day, museum activities were a highlight, but the snowshoe tour stole the show. Kids were ages 3 - 7. EcoCenter had the gear and the right trail that was age appropriate. Great family afternoon alternative to skiing. TIP: Hot Cocoa and cookies at Kneaders next door was a great reward.

There is nothing better than the opportunity for experiential learning about nature. The Swaner Preserve is protected yet you can walk the trails that surround it and see Sand Cranes and a variety of small birds and ducks during three seasons. Today I went solo. I have the privilege of living here. The EcoCenter's interior activities are good for adults (check out the counters in the bathrooms), and as a non-parent I'd say under ten.
