This is a great place for a hike or a snowshoe. The EcoCenter is a great source of information about this preserve. They even rent snowshoes! A great day activity if you're looking for a day off from skiing.

We lived along this Preserve for three years and it's in my dreams and memories and I long to go back. I review hotels and remember the best and the worst, same with restaurants but this sticks with me day by day. Five feet away. We heard the eocene era calls of the Greater Sandhill Cranes that mate for life... More

A nice stop for families with kids. They offer fun activities on the weekends and the Utah photo exhibit we saw was wonderful. Super cheap ($5-$10) for Park City. Check out their website for activities calendar.

Park City is blessed with great recreational areas and this is one of the best. The eco center is relatively small but very nice. Great hiking trails but they are full sun, no shade.

My 4 and 6 years old really enjoyed it. There are simple scavenger hunts inside and one on the nature trail. There is a touch and feel table and an interactive computer the kids can control. There is also a nice viewing tower if you are not up for the short hike. Great way to entertain kids for about an... More

We were visiting Park City from Chicago and happened to learn about the ecocenter and an "owl prowl" program they were doing the week we were in town so we signed up well in advance. The program was wonderful with an hour informative talk followed by a long walk on Rob's Trail through the woods to listen and look for... More

The swaner ecocenter is a visitor center to a preserved meadow wetland in park city. It is located in the New Park shopping area. A visit here will not take very long. They have a boardwalk over the wetland and a viewing tower for an aerial view. The is a small exhibit hall with rotating exhibits.I went to see the... More

The center is a neat LEED building with learning activities for kids. The wetlands view from the center is nice. We went hiking on Glenwild and Blackhawk trails. Nice views of the mountains, but you can also see all of the housing developments, so you don't really feel like you're out in nature. We encountered a lot of mountain bikers,... More

It is intersting to visit for an educational walk, a stroll on your own, etc. It's so wonderful to have such a treasure, especially in such a fast growing area. Much thanks to the Swaner family for establishing this fantastic place.

Unfortunately, not much of nature was stirring when I visited, but I did like the tower available to view the lands and the boardwalk you could walk out on. If you're in the area shopping, it's a nice quiet spot to spend a few minutes and get educated on Utah's creatures and habitats. A few interactive things for kids to... More
