Took the pothole escape workshop on May 30,31. Great experience, really built on and added to skill sets I'd learned in technical and advanced canyoneering classes . Lets face it, keeper potholes are scary. We worked in keepers for two days perfecting escape techniques such as ascending an overhanging keeper swimmer. Methods to toss potshots, tossing hooks, partner assists and... More

We weren't sure as in our 70's.......but Rick is a wonderful teacher and very safety conscious. Groups are relatively small so personal attention is guaranteed! Wish our entire family ( children and grandchildren) had been with us to experience this adventure! Thank you Rick, Ian, and Amie for Major Memories!!!!!!!!! The Hassell's from Charleston, SC

Greetings to the Hassells. Thank you for your review! We appreciate your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your canyoneering experience with us. If folks can hike up to 5 miles in a day and are in general good health, then there is a good chance they will love canyoneering :) We'd love to meet the rest of your family... More

My wife and I went on our first canyonerring trip with Rick the owner of Excursions of escalante. He was a first class guide who emphasized safety which made us comfortable experiencing first time technical maneuvers to work our way down the canyon. From repelling, to sliding to butt friction and assisting one another it was an adrenaline rush all... More

Hi Frank - Thank you for your review. We appreciate your taking the time to write this! We are glad the two of you enjoyed your canyoneering experience. As you mentioned, sliding on your butt is a standard move in the canyons, so one should choose durable shorts for their adventure with us. :) Have a fun and safe Summer... More

We went on a full day canyoneering trip with Rick and Ian. Our girls are 9 and 11 years old. From the very beginning, Rick made us all feel at ease, and it was clear that safety was first on his mind. Yet, he did this without scaring us or making us anxious. The kids could barely wait to start!... More

We visited Esacalante for the second time in a few years (we live very far from there). We went again with Rick (guide and owner). The area is one of the most beautiful you can dream of and Rick knows it like no one else. He is reassuring, patient, knows all the technical tricks, but, above all, he is passionate... More

This is the second outing we had with Excursions of Escalante and I would recommend them anytime. Our guide, Jim, was very professional. He was calming and made you feel confident in yourself. I had no intention of repelling down the side of a 75 foot canyon! However our guide"extraordinare", Jim, gave a great talk about all the safety features in place & I went to the head of the line. He was so calm & reassuring & I felt like I could really trust him. When I got down to the bottom,... More
