I've been to this mine twice and really enjoyed it. Took friends from out of town there last time and spent a few hours wondering around the museum as well as outside watching the huge trucks haul rock. This is the world's largest copper mine! « less

It is so deep and big, that it's mind boggling to realize it's man-made. The machines down at the bottom are huge as well; like moving houses. It's worth at least one visit. More

I have now been to the copper mine 4 times and everytime I am amazed at the scope of this operation. The visitor entrance can be a little difficult to find, so plan your route a head of time...dispite having two gpss on our smart phones, we found it but the gps directions were not really that accurate. Just observing... More

Yes, yes a must see to be amazed by what men have done & will do over the next years. 3/4mile deep by 2 3/4mile wide. You can't get the expanse in your head. See the terraces, see new work ongoing, see earth moving trucks that make 18wheelers miniature. The colors are beautiful no matter which side your on. Inside... More

This is a wonderful place to take small kids for a few hours. The magnitude of the place is what's great. More

Bingham Canyon was bought and turned into Kennecott which was then bought by Rio Tinto. This is the largest producer of copper in the world and one of the biggest open pit mined in the world. While there is a lot of local controversy over the particle emissions from the mine into the Valley's already notoriously bad air quality, it... More

I have no love for industrial stuff, but this is a cool touristy thing to go see. It's hard to explain how looking down into a big pit and seeing huge trucks that look tiny is fun. But it is fun. Sometimes you get to see things blown up, but it's far enough away that it isn't scary. I went... More
