The exhibits encourage children to wonder about things, try and experiment and learn. It is geared for the 5 - 10 age group. Our kids loved the interactiveness of the exhibits and play areas. We chose this destination for a rainy day - it was a perfect outlet for their energy and curiosity.

I have been taking my kids to discovery Science Place since they were little. They loved it than and they love it now. most of their large exhibits like "the cave" and the "pirate ship" and the pretend area stay the same but they always have a new exhibit for us to explore.Best for preschoolers and grade school children. I have been coming here for years with my son (who now is "too old" for this) and recently returned with my 5 year niece. I was surprised that in the gap of a few years since my last visit not much has changed. We had a great time exploring. The favorite is always the pretend play area for the... More

Wasn't expecting much, but the museum was great. Plenty of things to keep my young grade-schoolers busy. Very large play, pretned area, neat science experiments. Plenty of free play: legos, blocks, magnets, etc. Older kids would be bored.

Wow! UT Tyler students have improved the experience at this science center. The students did a wonderful job painting the exterior murals. Not only do their murals draw you in but they really add to downtown. Upgrades at the science center include the opening of their annex next door (follow the red awnings) which houses a lot of hands-on stations... More

While in Tyler, we visited the Discovery Science Place. It is as the name indicates, a hands-on place for kids to explore various aspects of science. The two grandkids ages 7 and 8 that we took had a wonderful time at each of the areas. We spent about 2 hours there. Currently they have a lot of dinosaurs that move... More

I take my first graders here every year for our annual field trip! They have a blast going from station to station learning and playing! I also take my niece, nephew, and my son every year in the summer because they have something new each time and are constantly updating.

This science center does not compare to the Kids Museum in Austin, but it is a pretty good spot for Tyler. My child loves to go there. It seems to need a fresh coat of paint, brighter lighting, and the activity tables probably haven't been cleaned (ever) but they have hand sanitizer stations throughout the center. It is really a... This place is run down. Several exhibits didn't work. Limited activities for children that can't read yet. Definitely not for preteens. Several preteens were there and they were bored. Got a splinter under my fingernail from a display table that was worn down. Several of the booster boxes had splintered corners where the laminate had chipped off. The domino table... More
