I did the Painted Desert Sunset Ride. It was fun and the staff were professional and pleasant. I would definitely recommend this for most people. Just one thing to keep in mind-if you have some experience with real riding, this isn't for you, as you don't really get to control the horse to do your own things.

We did the four hour ride in the morning in March. Great views, good guides, pretty tame horses, wonderful lunch. Absolutely worth the trip. You will get a little tired if you don't ride much (which I don't) but the trip is worth it.

We went on the two-hour sunset ride at Big Bend Stables. We were the only two riders on the tour, which made for a very peaceful and enjoyable ride despite the windy weather. Our guide Joe was so friendly and knowledgeable. I really felt like he went out of his way to make sure our ride was special. This was... More

This was a lot of fun for our whole family. It's the perfect way to see the mountains. The wranglers are very friendly and knowledgable. The horses are well-trained, great for first timers!

We went on a two hour ride. Calm, steady horses. Great, friendly trail guides, pretty views. We got started late so without saying a word the guides extended the ride to make up for it. Joe (one of the guides) even serenaded us with his ukulele songs.

We were "walk-ins" at Big Bend Stables and the kids were so excited they had enough spots for an afternoon ride over at their Lajitas Stables location. After we booked the ride, we drove over to the Terlingua Ghost Town and after 30 minutes or less went back to our vehicle to find we had picked up a screw in... More

We did the Saddle and Paddle package on Saturday 12/28/13 and absolutely enjoyed it. The first half of the day was the horseback ride in the State park. Our guides, Janelle and Carl, were excellent. We rode up into the mountains and got great views of the Rio Grande and the Sierra del Carmen mountains and canyons. The lunch was... More

There are two different stables - one in Terlingua (not the one we visited) and a really great place a few miles beyond Lajitas, on the highway to Presidio, overlooking the Rio Grande River. The website is http://www.lajitasstables.com/bigbend.htm We did the Saddle & Paddle package - ride in the morning with lunch, and then Big Bend rafting company picks you... More

Our guide was a very nice man. The horses were easy to ride but if a person has never ridden a horse before, I would not recommend this activity. There are a lot of steep mountains up and down with very rough terrain. The views are magnificent. At the top our guide provided lunch for us. We had cold chicken,... More
