We spent about two hours on a jetty at Surfside, watching at least three dozen surfers trying to master the 8-foot waves. They ranged from young teenagers to people at least age 60. Clean park, pleasant visitors. Not good for swimming, just surfing.

My experience on the jetty was like a horror film. LOTS of BLOOD, and I was barefoot. LOTS of fishing line all over the place. Had to collect fishing line and trash that is harmful to sea life like sea turtles. A senseless man caught a black fin shark. I asked him to release it and he refused. Said that... More

When Stephen F. Austin brought the first settlers to Texas, they landed near here, so it is a historic site in several ways. Go down to the beach and read the historical marker to obtain more history of the region.

It's just another jetty. Nice and clean, with lots of trash cans - people seemed to be picking up after themselves. Lots of folks fishing - easy walk with the sidewalk.

You can fish or just watch the dolphins and sea turtles or the ships and boats going in and out of the shipping channel. It is very long and it is also fun to people watch-especially when they are catching fish!

We walked the kids out on the jetty for a nice morning walk and to check out the views and boats coming in. We saw sea turtles, porpoises, and pelicans. Lots of people fishing. Lots of trash, though - they really need more trash receptacles. There are public bathrooms at the beginning, but they were horribly dirty. It was a... More

The jetty is BIG and on one side is the harbor entrance and on the other is the Gulf. There's a lot to see with shrimp boats, ships, pleasure boats and fishing boats, coming and going plus the fishing is really good off this jetty. It's also a great spot to take a chair out with a book and sit... More

Besides the nasty beach, this is Surfside's only attraction, yet they can't even manage it appropriately. It's FULL of trash and smells horrible! Even the recycled fish line containers were full of trash proving nobody maintains it. Trash is EVERYWHERE! It's crowded with locals trying to fish off of it but the locals have zero pride of their town, and... More

It is kind of a joint, but very nice people and the best burgers. You can take the family right from the beach and enjoy delicious burgers and cold drinks.
