Throughout the park, visitors will find evidence from three cultures: Native American, Spanish and German. The Native Americans lived in the Hill Country, then the Spanish conquistadors, and in the early 1800s German immigrants settled there. Park visitors will also be able to picnic, fish, swim, and see Texas longhorn cattle. And note that there are two visitors centers, about 14 miles apart. The first is the National Park Visitor Center, run by the park service, and another operated by LBJ State Park and Historic Site near the ranch. « less

No matter your political preference, this was a nice trip back in time. We enjoyed seeing the many acres, wildlife, houses and transportation. We were given a CD at the main office that gave us a "guided tour" around the area. Was a nice one time visit. More

This was an enjoyable trip. We first stopped at Johnson City, TX at the boyhood home of LBJ. Then proceeded on to the Lyndon Baines Johnson State Historic Park. The wildflowers were in bloom and it was beautiful out there. We took the Tour of the Texas White House and stopped by the Johnson family cemetery. I would recommend this... More

This was a really enjoyable experience. We started with the video at the visitor center, and then continued with a driving tour of the ranch. They provide a CD at the visitor center, and it guides you on the driving tour of the property, including the family cemetery, a replica of the birthplace, schoolhouse, etc. Admittance to the park is... Visit to the park and LBJ house was worth the time. The state park provide a CD to lead the tour and a $2 admission to the house was most reasonable. National Park Service rangers give a tour of several rooms of the 1960's style house. More

The park is a joint effort between Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and National Park Service. The Texas State Park also contains Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm, which in itself is worth the permit price. Costumed interpreters run a farm in pre-electricity days, gardening, farming and tending livestock. Time required to tour varies by the nature of the work they are... More

If you're visiting Austin, you'll be missing out if you don't include a drive through the beautiful Hill Country and out to the Lyndon B. Johnson Historic Site in Stonewall! We nearly left this off our list. This review is to encourage other visitors to put it on theirs. A visit to the LBJ Ranch here, known as The Texas... More

Took my parents and they loved it! I learned a lot, too, and actually enjoyed the outing far more than I expected to. If you are in the area and looking to kill a few hours, this is an excellent attraction to check out. More

The park is huge, if you are ready to have a big walk, put on your tennis shoes and pack a bottle of water. Great place to see live animals, the actual Johnson car, his home and even his plane. More

This was a good stop. The farm is nice. In January there isn't as much to see, but it was interesting. The CD tour is good. Maybe I missed it, but t just seemed there wasn't much about his life. More
