Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island", originally formed our organization to save the Kemp's ridley sea turtle in 1977. Now we are a sea turtle hospital with a mission to rehabilitate and release any injured sea turtles, increase awareness concerning their safety and habitat, and assist with conservation efforts for all sea turtle species. We are funded by donations, grants and gift shop proceeds-- For rehabilitated sea turtle and hatchling release text message notifications, please see our website membership page. Enjoyable as well as educational. No admission fee...donations only and adults as well as children will appreciate what Sea Turtle, Inc. has done to rescue injured sea turtles. There are turtles that cannot be released back into the ocean, due to injuries, so plenty to see.

My hubby & I weren't expecting much, because the place looked so small. However, it was an entertaining & educational experience. Don't miss it!! Say hello to Boudreaux!!

I wasn't sure what to expect but it was such a great experience. I learned so much and my niece now has an interest in Marine Biology!! I'm involved in dog rescue so I can only imagine how hard it is to do what they do. I wish more people would have paid the admission fee 😕

Great stop to take kids/teens/fam/seniors to see sea life up close in a quiet, less showy environ and sneak a little learning and awareness reminders in. Can take as little as 20 minutes or over an hour. Several tanks have volunteers stationed nearby to answer questions and point out details.

The weather didn't really cooperate while we were there. Kids really enjoyed the gift shop and picked up plenty of souvenirs. They had a chance to witness a turtle getting its shell repaired. That was something they weren't expecting, but became quite informed of the process. Great place to help create awareness in kids about ecosystems.
