If your idea of a great time is a long walk on a long pier, viewing butterflies, birds, fish, alligator(s) and an amazing view of South Padre Island, then this is the place to do it. Tip - They close at 5pm, but as long as you get out the back door in time, you can stay as late as... More

This is one of the best things on the Island to visit. Not only does it give you one of the best views of the entire Island, but it boasts a natural museum, gift store and video tours. The outdoor board walks are tranquil while you spy the natural inhabitants of the Laguna Madre.

We have a season pass and go there at least 3 times a week in the 6 months that we live on the Island each year. Always something new to see. We always take our friends there when they come down.

Very interesting view of the wetlands and island nature. Numerous bird and native fish sightings. Worth the walk just to see the lone gator chilling next to the pier.

Had my husband drop me off to spend 2 1/2 hours soaking in the scenery & wildlife. Excellent boardwalks with abundant water birds, including an Osprey. View from observation tower is great! Also, well displayed information museum & gift shop. Enjoyed the informative movie with excellent wildlife cinematography included.

The weather was the biggest downside of our visit to the birding center, be prepared for major wind. This may have been a factor in why there was so few birds when we toured. The scenery and boardwalk hike are all beautiful. Plus, there was plenty of fish, crabs, and turtles to dicover; however we found it lacking in actual... More
