We enjoyed the boardwalk, the scavenger hunt for birds, and the resident alligators. It was time well spent. Thanks
This is a wonderful facility - with great boardwalks over the marshes, a nice modern learning center and friendly staff. But this place would get 5 stars without any facilities ... I have never seen so many diverse birds in one place anywhere ... and they seem to have been trained to pose for photographs ! It was too cold... More
It was cold out but we had a really nice time walking the boardwalk. What a lovely gathering of birds, fish, turtles, and gators. Cheap to get in. Rent the binoculars for the kids. An informative video to start armed us with lots of information, such as that the US Government recently bought up 23,000 acres to guarantee this natural... More
It was 90 degrees out in November when I visited. Bring sunscreen, a hat and bottled water. Except for the bird blinds, you will be out under the sun and there is a lot of walking, standing and observing to do when you're making your way to a covered shelter aka bird blind. I recommend going early in the day... More
Nice wooden walkway, suitable for a scooter, wheelchair, or handicapped person to enjoy views that they wouldn't normally see. Quiet serene place with beautiful scenery. Many birds, fish, and alligators. Enjoyed very much.
What a great new center. Very informative nature displays, and an amazing variety of birds visible from the extensive boardwalks. Anyone who doesn't like this place just doesn't like birds! We also saw a very large alligator!
Birds everywhere. Reptiles galore. You can even ride a shark for $5 (bring your own saddle). The best parts were the homemade squirrel burgers and the wild hot dog eating alligators. Combine the two with a pint of tequila and your pelican lassoing will be bi*ch'n. Bring the kids, too.
Been here many times, always something new and different to see. It's a large area of boardwalk stretching out into the bay and mud flats, populated by all manner of birds, fish, and reptiles. The critters are habituated to people, so you can get up close for photos yet you're looking at wild animals, not captives. A really pleasant place... More
Very nice visitor center (air conditioned, important in July) with interesting exhibits, very clean, seems new. The boardwalk, though, was exceptional -- all kinds of birds, presenting endless photo opportunities in a marsh setting. Also saw some small sharks herding fish into an inlet for supper! Something for everyone to enjoy, but those who like birds and taking pictures of... More
