We spent two nights watching the sunset and seeing the birds come in to roost from this trail. Along with all of the birds, we also saw some small crabs scurrying across the boardwalk.

No fee to access this boardwalk that often runs adjacent to the Birding Center boardwalk which you have to pay for. We visited this several times during our stay and often saw the same birds as we did at the Birding Center, just not as many. Signage is poor from the street since the sign is faded. You access the... More

Although it was very hot and humid on the morning we visited, we were very glad we saw this and will come back again. The boardwalk is adjacent to the Whaling Wall at the Convention Center, We walked along a boardwalk (which is very well constructed and safe) out to a pavilion over the water where we could sit and... A nice free way to decide if you would like to go next door to the birding center. For free... You can't go wrong. Worth a bit of time.

This is a very nice, free nature trail. The elevated boardwalk is nice, the views are beautiful. We tied this stop in with a visit to the whaling wall, which is at the trail's entrance, and some Frisbee in the large convention center bay access area.

We are not avid birders, but enjoyed our visit here. The other birders were very willing to answer questions. Boardwalk is nice and overall this is a pleasant, peaceful visit.

What a nice free thing to do on the island! Walked out to the sound to watch the sunset. Saw lots of cool birds but also got a few mosquito bites. No one else was on the sound side while we were there. Trees as you enter are lovely as well. Wish we had arrived with a little more daylight... More

My wife is an avid birder and we came here for the birding. I've never seen such a variety of colorful birds - especially warblers - in such a small space. We went there every day and could have spent hours and hours there. If you love birds this is a must see.
