Enjoyed the glass bottom boat tour & learning geological facts of this fault zone. The Edwards aquifer feeds this spring around which 140 species & many cultures have lived. Several kinds of turtles, bass, sunfish, salamanders & birds were seen Tour is 1/2 hour & aquarium is free & interesting. The landscape was full of flowering shrubs & butterflies. We... More

We found this place looking for geocaches. It was run by the university and very interesting. The glass bottom boat tour was great over the springs. The kids loved it. It's not super touristy and run more like a college program which was better in my opinion. Much more geared toward learning than tourism. Field trips that are here aren't... More

Thought we would just see whatever was on the lake but learned so much more about the surrounding area. The tour guide suggested if we wanted more information just ask anyone of the others, who worked there. The tour guide gave a lot of info but only has so much time to keep answering questions. The guy we asked was... More

The Aquarena Center consists of a small museum / educational centre, a short nature path and a glass-bottomed boat ride. The museum is free (I think), but really not all that exciting unless you particularly want to see a blind salamander. It's essentially just a few boards about things like soil types and different types of fish. There is a... More

We took our teenage girls and we loved it! Will be going again though so we can hear and talk more with the tour guide since there was a family with two unruly, loud, very rotten kids. I understand that kids have bad days, however, I blame the parents. Anyways, our guide was phenomenal, especially considering the circumstances. Aquarium next... More

If you just want to hang out with family and float in a small area, San Marcos River is perfect. If your looking for a longer float, other options in the area are better.

My children, my wife and I enjoyed it. It's real simple, and worth the price. The aquarium is real neat too. All in all, I was really impressed with it. I would love to do it again. Maybe the fish will be bigger by then?!?!

I used a groupon and went with my family of 5 for just $18. We loved it. It was fun, educational, pretty... a good value for the money. We had a great afternoon in the boat and aquarium. I will recommend it to friends.

This is a nice relaxing boat ride with informative guides who share history and biology of the Springs. You get a great view of fish, turtles, springs, and even the San Marcos fault line all in a comfortable boat. You can follow your ride up with a walk through the wetlands and a trip through their small aquarium/education center. It's... More
