There has been a major restoration effort going on, go and enjoy nature! The glass bottom boats are operating daily. You can also venture over the wetlands boardwalk and visit informative exhibitions inside Spring Lake Hall. Go up on the roof for a bird's eye view too. If you like a bit more adventure, you can take a tour by... More

Aquarena is a great place for a summer day trip if you are in the Hill Country. The glass bottom boats and the nature walk are worth the visit. The water is amazingly clear and beautiful. San Marcos is a fun town and make sure to check out Texas State University while you are there.

Because we never lived in Texas when Aquarena was an all-out amusement park, we were able to enjoy it for the tranquil and interesting attraction it is today. The older boats (with wooden uppers) still toodle around the springs. We had a great guide who definitely kept it interesting for the young ones and their parents and grandparents. We loved... More

Best time to go is before the heat arrives! The tour is about 30 minutes and the guide is insightful and friendly. I would recommend taking a child atleast over 6 or they will be rather bored staring into the bottom of the boat. The free exhibit in the building shows all the marine life in the lake and local... The glass-bottom boat tour was very interesting. A unique experience. The springs are gorgeous. The museum was good, too.

Our yearly vacation to San Antonio has started becoming stale with us running out of places to see. So decided to increase the radius a bit and stumbled upon Aquarena. Boy! aren't we glad that we did. Its not a big attraction, just a simple lake and a small educational aquarium. But the clam serenity of the lake and the... More

We went to the San Marcos area as a day trip while visiting San Antonio and decided to check out the Aquarena. There are some aquariums and a small museum type area, but the coolest part is the glass bottom boats. They are quite nice and our guide did an outstanding job of showing us the interesting points around the... More

Got groupon deal tickets for extended family of 13, a week after Thanksgiving. We had fun at Aquarena Center, rode the glass bottom boat and enjoyed viewing those turtles and fishes underneath. The clear water spring on the bottom is very calming to look at, plus the displays at the building center are very educational for all of us especially... More

Came here with my wife and 6 year old grand daughter and she loved it - a boat you could see through!?! She enjoyed the pleasant seating and the views of the fish, turtles and seaweed on the bottom. And the springs themselves are very cool. A unique and enjoyable time, great for the family.
