We took our 4 and 5 yr olds on the 30 min glass bottom boat ride, and we all enjoyed it. The tour guide was informative about the fish, springs, preservation, and history. The water is really clear. We saw a spotted gar, other fish, turtles, plant life, and the natural springs. Adjacent to the boat area is the indoor... More

We really enjoyed this afternoon excursion! The boat tour guides are very knowledgeable despite most of them being students. The amount of fish and wildlife on this property is amazing! We loved being able to sit right over top of the springs and see them bubbling up... The day that we went it was actually sprinkling rain and they had... More

Aquarena Springs is a relaxing experience. The glass bottom boat ride is just long enough (30 minutes) and the guides provide insights about the springs, river, and marine life. Grounds are pleasant to walk around on the nature trails guided by a boardwalk. This is not Disney Land, but an opportunity to glimpse into crystal clear water and commune with... More

Aquarena (Sprin Lake) is now called the Meadows Center. It has greatly changed over the past few years. All of the buildings along the shorelines have been torn down. Only the old hotel building remains. This building has been renovated and looks very nice. The new concept is to maintain a natural area for scientific study and nature park. Their... More

I'm only giving three stars to this because I think it's a little pricey when you are a family of four. Granted, we had a groupon, so it kept the price down for us, but my husband and I agreed, had we paid full price for this, we would have been disappointed. Call me crazy but I was expecting a... If you have been living in south Texas for long, or like me, since you were young, you have heard of Aquarena Springs...home of the swimming pig and mermaids. I have not been there in years and had no idea what it was currently like. I purchased a couple of Groupons and off we went. I took my 3 year... More

Definitely a peaceful way to kill an afternoon. Boat tour was neat as well as the floating sidewalk. Simple and neat!

When I say families, it is best that the kids be age five or so - the toddler on our boat trip competed with the tour guide's narration. All in all, a very fun and informative stop, pretty reasonable, too. We took the Wetlands boardwalk trip, looked in at the aquarium displays, and rode the glass bottom boat. Our guide... More

I had not been back to Aquarena Springs since Texas State University had taken over the site. I decided to take my 9 and 7 year old grandchildren for a "cruise" on the glass bottom boat. It was a delightful and educational experience. The guide talked about the Edwards Aquifer and it's importance to the region as she pointed out... More

Very informative and the glass bottom boat was fun. As we waited for our appointed boat excursion time, we enjoyed the small aquarium in the hotel. Saw lots of fish and turtles swimming around and learned about the springs. Very clear and beautiful water. A cold water station was set up near the boat docking area and it was most... More
