No noisy hiphop and young hooligans. Every time we visit Texas, we visit rose's place of locals and normal, peaceful foreigners like us. Nice acoustic music and chat is good for the soul. The queen Rose and her princess Debbie has made our visists unforgedable. Coors was good compensation for missing a/c. My private opinion: this is the best place... more

Shorty's is the best bar and has the best music by JW Jones and boys in perhaps the world. We are Canadians who have spent the last 2 months in Port A. Every weekend, we try to get to Shorty's to hear JW and the band. Everyone is so friendly. There are ball caps all over the ceiling and a... more

I have been to Port A many times and everytime I venture there I always try and get to Shorty's. Very down to earth folks and the atmosphere is one of a kind. Nothing, and I mean nothing is better than sitting on the porch at Shorty's listening to JW and the boys, or just the boys truly knock it out under the dark sky and salty breeze. A cold Dos helps an bit too. Only down is that sometimes or most of the time the band does their own thing... like not... more

Friends and I go to Shorty's every year when we travel to Port Aransas for Spring Break and we love it. It's always a good mix of locals and toursits. The drinks are reasonable and the food awesome.
