A 4 hour cruise. The Wharf Cat is old but very functional. Great commentary. Saw lots of whopping cranes and heron, ibis, egret, three kinds of gulls and more. Food service is not good--microwaved stuff and bags of chips. Drink service (Beer, soda, coffee) is OK. Cost $50 per person.

we left at 7:30 in the morning from Port Aransas. this tour usually goes from Rockport but there was a whooping crane festival in Port A so they left from there for people who attended the festival. It took about an hours ride before we saw our first cranes. they were good about describing what birds were around in the... More

Be aware that this business is actually located closer to Rockport than Port A. But, it's so worth the drive. If you enjoy bird watching, you will have an awesome time on this trip. We'd been referred to Captain Tommy by a bird watching friend in San Antonio, and he was right -- Tommy is the best. We were also... More

Though we had seen whooping cranes in a field while driving in the Aransas Pass/Rockport/Fulton area, the best views are by water. Capn Tommy, the pilot and guide for this tour, is knowledgeable and passionate about birds. Constantly scanning for species we hadn't seen yet, he pointed out not only the whooping cranes, but the crested caracara, the oyster catchers,... More

Went out on a bay cruise for a rather somber occasion to spread a loved ones ashes on the water. Tommy was able to keep it light and fun, with Jimmy Buffett tunes playing and pointing out some great siteings of birds and dolphins. When the time came, he was helpful in suggesting how to sprinkle the ashes and very... More

Rode the Wharf Cat out of Rockport TX to look for Whooping Cranes. The boat was not running right so we only covered about 2/3 rds of the area they normally do. Saw 41 Whooping Cranes including several family groups with immature 1st year birds. Also saw a number of dolphins and lots of other shore birds. Ray Kirkwood was... More

Texans have participated in saving the whooping cranes for the last 65+ years, so there are many of us who want to see the successful results of our labor. These goreous large birds are to a Texas what a condor is to a Californian. They are part of our soul! Our narrator was an expert in coastal ornithology and actually... More
