We have visited this beach for the past 2 years. My children always have a great time. The water was very clear this year. We did encounter some seaweed on the beach but did not bother our visit. The beach is clean and family oriented. We drive down further on the beach past the public area to park closer to... More

a lot of seaweed this visit; but not as bad as I've seen this area in the past - it wasn't preventing us from enjoying the beach. Make sure you get your beach parking permit before parking to prevent getting an expensive ticket - aka the fee for the attraction. Fairly strong winds tore up our shade tent but that... More

Love the beach here. Very clean. You can drive to your spot in the sand so you don't have to carry your things too far.

Seaweed... It's hard to enjoy this beach after going to Destin Florida. I guess for a Texas beach it's ok if you really like the water and just enjoy being in it. I like the fact that you can drive on the beach road. It's worth renting a golf cart and ride around. That's fun...

I know Mother Nature has taken her toll on the beach this year with seemingly endless seaweed, but it is improving. I have been there three times in the last two weeks and each time is a little better. Try to go when the wind is not too bad. That helps churn up the seaweed. Otherwise, the water is clear... More

The beach this year was pretty nasty with seaweed. It changed daily, and the local authorities tried to pick it up with machinery, but the water was nasty for several days

Monday, July 14, 2014 Enjoyed another day on Port A beach! We come often and the water was definitely not the best - nice temp, but seaweed debris gathering on shore and at sand bar. Once we got deep enough, water cleared up a lot. It's a bit unnerving when it's rubbing against your leg and swarming around you -... More

Love this beach. We were at mile marker 100 which is free to park without a permit. Lots of sea weed this weekend but a storm had just blown through but this beach is awesome.

First time I have been to Port A beach. It's not what I expected but was fun nonetheless. I was expecting a Myrtle Beach/PanamaCity Beach boardwalk type of environment. This was nothing like that. There was a lot of seaweed but they had cleaned it up by piling it big piles. Saw lots of kids sliding down piles of seaweed.... More

There was a ton of seaweed here but the sand otherwise was clean and it wasn't overly crowded the day after the 4th of July. Not very many shells and bring an umbrella or some sort of shade since there is none to be found!
