So much fun. Reminds me of tailgating at Aggie games. Pop up tents and canopies, grills, horseshoes, washers - lots of friends and family gatherings all over the beach. From sun up to sun down. Warm water and great waves to boogie board. Minimal seaweed. Was very windy during our stay - lots of people losing their umbrellas, tents, rafts!... More

My friend and I go to the beach here every summer, and this summer was a bit of a challenge. The city is not able to keep up with the massive amount of seaweed that was coming in, and had opted to make these giant 30-40 foot high mountains out of it about every 100 yards down the beach. They... More

clean but crowded, par for the course in August. No real seaweed to speak off. Port-a-potties were clean- you didn't need to hold your breath! Driving on the beach is always a great adventure for the kids, especially if you rent the beach buggies!

Headed down to the coast from Austin for a few days to spend some time in Port A this week. Beaches were in pretty decent shape all in all. Not much in the way of visible tar but tons of seaweed all four days we were there and the "aroma" that accompanies it.. We did see some dune reconstruction in... More

Wish that Port Aransas would clean the beaches of the seaweed along the shoreline like South Padre does. If they did this, a lot more people would visit. The other bad thing is they continually are adding more and more sand to the sand dunes between the road and the condos/houses so the views for lower level floors and houses... More

Port A beach is so close to us and so much cleaner thatn the other Gulf beaches. The small city has everything to offer. From beach buggies, fly boarding, parasailing, dolphin tours, pirate ships, and all the best food you can eat. We decided to try Fly Boarding for the first time. www.overandunderwatersports.com. WOW, what an experience. The owner takes... More

I had fairly low expectations, people warned me about the "Texas beach" experience, like I am about to be swimming in a pool of oil. However, this is a great beach! It's huge, so there's lots of room to set up, and you can drive up right onto the beach and don't have to carry your stuff far. The water... More

The city had a bulldozer cleaning the beach of sea weed, not good! The idea was good but he spun his wheels and left deep muddy mosquito infested water traps. In the places that he dropped his bucket and smooth it was great. The muddy holes were death traps and full of stinking rotting fish.

Fun town to visit for fishing and a quick weekend getaway by the sea. Excellent kiteboarding if the wind cooperate.
