I guess the reviewers below were not local history buffs or train enthusiasts because I really enjoyed my visit to this museum. The museum is located near downtown Plano, in the only restored electric sub-station building from the Interurban line. It tells the history of the Texas Electric Railway, which carried passengers from Denison to Dallas, south to Waco, west... More

I took my two year old and it was a good place for him. A few things to keep his attention like how electric currents work, buttons he could push and things would happen, a small model electric train, and he was able to look at the train outside and go inside of it too.

This is a small park in downtown Plano and is the perfect place to spend some time downtown browsing... More

We attended story time on a Friday, and all the kids seemed to really enjoy themselves. It is staffed by friendly volunteers, and the whole facility is clean and well-maintained.

This is a excellent history of not only the Interurban Railroad, but a great history of Plano and transportation of the past. The staff is wonderful and are very informative. Worth checking out to learn some good history of the area. My grandmother told me stories of the interurban railway, she lives in Denison, Texas and this museum tells the... More

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your visit to the Interurban Railway Museum! Your grandmother sounds like she might be a great person for us to talk to for our "Tell Us Your Story" oral history project - we are collecting stories from those who rode the Interurban Railway between 1908 and 1948. If you're interested in learning more,... More

Over 100 years ago, this little commuter rail transit system was operating in Texas. The modern day one run besides this museum now! Nice museum that's very well done, with knowledgeable volunteers, displays and hands on exhibits for kids! Old Downtown Plano is right next door. Kids and adults will enjoy this one!

This is a wonderful little musuem in a converted substation that tells the history of the Texas Electric Railway and how it helped the economic development of the area. With the rise of the freeways it eventually closed and has been forgotten by all but railroad history buffs. Photos and artifacts explaing the founding of the line, it's success, management... More
