For locals and out-of-towners this lake and the friendly community that surrounds it are must see places. On the weekends and all the time during the summer there is a stream of visitors bringing their boats and camping and picnic supplies. For those wishing to explore and float the Guadalupe River, River Road has one terminus in Canyon Lake and... More

Last few times we went it's all rock .. there nowhere to go where beer cans aren't floating. The drought caused the water to recede... if you want to swim go to corpus.

The lake is a popular recreational destination. The lake has 80 miles of shoreline for fishing and family outings. And it is 125 feet deep for boating. The lake provides sites for camper camping (utility connections) as well as tent camping. When there are no fire bans, everyone is Bar-Be-Queuing regardless if they’re at a pavilion or at camp side.... More

Very beautiful area. We were on the military side. The camping areas are easy to get in and out of and level. There are cabins available if you don't want to "rough it"

The overflow from Canyon Lake this year has contributed to an excellent tubing experience on the Guadelupe River.

Very pretty lake tucked away from the busy life. Great retreat, will be coming back! The waters are very clear. If you get tried of boating, have no fear many other activities near by, area is rich with culture!

We arrived around 11AM & glad we did because when we left the line to get in was about 10 long. I'm not sure of the name of the park area we went into but if you went past the public area there was a private military only area. The cost was $7 a car. The grounds were very well... More

What a gorgeous place. We were able to walk across the dam (.8 mile across) and all the people we passed were so friendly. Also walked on trails down to the lake. Can't wait to go back!

We frequently drive up to the top of the dam and spend time relaxing and watching the lake and boats on it. You can walk across the top of the (earthen) dam on a nice paved path.
