It is quaint, beautiful, quiet, and I much prefer it to floating through a town like NBraunfels. Just my personal opinion. All the tube places are owned by locals and are affordable and friendly!

My church group holds frequent retreats at Canyon Lake. It's an awesome place to "get away from it all." We go for the beautiful views and scenic nature walks. If you're looking for peace and quiet - this is it!

One of our favorite areas to visit throughout the year. The Lake of course is the centerpiece but there is so much more to see as well. Beautiful scenery, access to various activities from fishing, hiking, tubing, swimming, and just hanging out and relaxing. Shops and restaurants in Canyon city and Spring Branch. Everything is fairly easy to get to... More

Canyon Lake is one of the clearest lakes that I have seen. Not a lot of people out there so its never really too crowded.

Make sure to visit the area that is maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. This area has access to the lake, picnic areas, etc. This area is off of River Road on the south side of the lake at the damn/levy.

This Lake is deep, clean and even in 2011 hd 90 ft of water fed by springs throughout most of the lake which cover 80,000acres of water. Canyon Lake however and the people who live here are getting fed up with the tourist's lack of care for the lake and parks which surround the lake. If you come to the... More

Easy walk to the lake from parking. Very nice lake, but trash was strewn across the picnic area....dogs. However, looked like trash collectors missed pick up day, dumpsters were spilling out.
