McKinney is very proud of this cemetery and for good reason. It's very old with lots of beautiful headstones, the kind they used to make. The gates are open for visitors during the daytime and its a great place for people who love history (and cemeteries) and statuary art. The roads throughout are good and there are lots of mature trees.

Every May there is a Memorial Day celebration early in the day. Year before last they had a couple of Texas senators speak. The Boy Scouts run a luncheon after the event and there is free water and limited seating. The McKinney mounted police are usually there as well as a lot of people in different types of uniforms. I would suggest bringing your own chairs just in case and the seating is generally out in the open so shade hats and possibly sun screen would not be a bad idea. This is a good, family friendly event to attend if you will be in the area over Memorial Day.

Was surprised by the enormity of the cemetery and despite having several roads close you still got a peaceful feel. The gates do close at sundown so make sure you plan accordingly.

Very historic and beautiful. There are some very old headstones and unique family plots. Great place if you are into photography. This is still a working cemetery so bear that in mind if you visit.

I LOVE Pecan Grove. I've got a lot of family in the cemetery and I visit a lot to be sure all of their graves are clean and there are flowers in the vases. However, even if I didn't have family here, I'd probably visit. As soon as I turn in, I roll down the windows and enjoy the peace. Something else to enjoy is the history. The front part of the cemetery is the oldest, so park at the chapel and start walking. The stones and monuments are beautiful and in no time you'll be wondering about the lives of the people who are buried there. There's an old slave section with lots of unmarked graves - much history there, too. I'll be buried with my family here and am proud to be part of something so beautiful, peaceful and full of history.

If you like looking at the stones and imagining the lives of the people of various eras, this is a good cemetery to visit. As the photos will show you there's quite a variety. It's well maintained and peaceful. I give it four stars instead of five because I've visited a few that would top it, most notably Pere Lachaise in Paris.

This cemetery is very old. I have a friend buried here and 2 family members. It is a very quiet place. You can walk around the grounds and feel that you are not alone. It is a very peaceful place.

The gentleman in the office went above and beyond to help with some research I was doing on my g-g-g grandfather, G. T. Armstrong (former McKinney mayor). Thanks for the help!

My daughter and I are both into history so we stopped here about a year ago. This is such a well maintained and peaceful old cemetary. If you are inot history it is a facinating place to visit.
