Great public library, with a coffee shop, and Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings! Library has events and summer stuff going on. Cool place to check out on Hot Valley days when you wanna read and stay indoors but not be home.

Everytime i go into this vault of literature, computers and movies I am impressed. If you are not from McAllen, take an ID to prove who you are so you can check things out.

This library was originally an older Wal-Mart that was remodeled as a Library. Having been in the field of Architecture most of my working life, I appreciate remodeling a well built useful structure and continuing to use the facility for another life. I don't visit the McAllen Public Library that often, but I notice one thing about the space at the entrance. It seems to be a location looking for a suitable occupant. I find it more a place for snacks than a meal.

Even though the building is special and so spacious, what I found to be what I love about the library are the following two things: actual book choices and the online catalog. The online catalog has features that I've not seen at other libraries and one of those features is how many times a particular item has been checked out... More

The library is a treasure in this city. It was built a few years ago and has individual rooms that students can use for study. There are also meeting rooms that can be rented for community events. It is well laid out and is one of the nicest libraries I have seen.
