This Zoo is small but really nice. The parking is convenient. You can see the animals up close. It's not very crowded. The price is awesome compared to the city zoos. There is also a train to ride. There is a hippo, giraffes, snake house, bears, monkeys and many other small animals.

I absolutely love this zoo. It is small and nicely shaded. You can bring food in and eat in the zoo. There are multiple tables throughout the zoo with many being at an animal enclosure. These are shaded as well. Peacocks freely roam the zoo and are so beautiful. It's perfect for younger kids because it's small and not very... More

Great place for a family. I have been dozens of times. Lots of exhibits, two small parks, a train that crosses the pond. PERFECT size zoo for young kids; See all the animals and play at the park in 3-4 hours. Lots of fun. Great place for birthday. The annual Zoo Boo(the last weekend each October) is a must-do!

Great place to take the kids or have a birthday party under the covered picnic tables. I have always enjoyed seeing the hippo... I remember seeing it when I was a kid. It is a great zoo for a small town.

Having raised one generation of children and am now watching my grandchild here in Lufkin, Ellen Trout Zoo has always been a special place. Wonderful picnic areas, lots of shade, interesting animal exhibits that are well cared for and clean, playgrounds and of course, the ever-popular train ride. For those who have never been, the 4th of July festivities at... More

I love this zoo. Having lived in large cities with much larger zoos, the attraction to this zoo is the closeness of the animals to your viewing position. Its a great way to spend a few hours.

By far the zoo is my favorite place to take folks visiting Lufkin. The zoo has an outstanding collection of animals, including giraffes, lemurs, lions, hippos, birds and more. Great picnic spots scattered throughout. And be sure to ride the Z&OO train around the Ellen Trout Lake. (Yes, I still enjoy it even though my kids are grown!)

Never knew this was here! The kids ages 2 & 5 had a wonderful time. Perfect for our group, without having to go to a larger city. We spent the afternoon and rode the little train as well.

I took my granddaughter to this zoo last week. There were lots of trees shading the area so we remained cool throughout our visit. It was very nice, clean and no crowds, making it possible to get very good views of the animals. The fees are very reasonable, $5 adults, and $2.50 children. There are lots of peacocks roaming about... More

We had a lot of fun when we visited this zoo. There are many different kinds of animals and it exceeded my expectations especially with how small it is. Very affordable and a fun way to spend the morning or afternoon.
