This zoo is the perfect size! The grounds are always immaculate and the atmosphere is friendly and laid back. The best time to visit is spring and early summer while the climate is good for any outdoor trip in East Texas.

Great place to take the kids on an all day outing. The zoo has great exhibits, a neat train to ride, picnic area, some covered and a playground.

I'm not going to lie, we have no children. We do enjoy this zoo though, even as adults. The zoo is small but has plenty to see and plenty of places to walk around and enjoy a gorgeous day outside. It is inexpensive to visit and fun to walk around, no matter how many times you have been here. Outside... More

Ellen Trout Zoo is a small zoo, but be pleasantly surprised! For a city the size of Lufkin, the ET Zoo is wonderful entertainment and learning adventure for children of all ages. With the zoo, the Z, O & O Railroad and the park by the small lake, it's a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

Peacocks rule this zoo and make it fun. Some animals like the lion look lonely and malnourished. Pretty much all animals were awake and active when we went. Small zoo but plenty to see and enjoy like Fox bats (so cool). Cheap too. No map of zoo was available.

Is a small zoo and not that big but is a fun experience. We go to Lufkin about twice a year to visit family. We try to get to the zoo when we visit. Has a train that is fun and inexpensive.

We are super lucky to have this charming zoo in our area. There are dozens of animals and the Peacocks are allowed to roam freely. It's beautiful to see the Peacocks up close but be careful not to step in waste. For the best experience, do not visit in the hottest part of the day during the summer. There is... More

I am a professional photographer and I love to shoot families and seniors at the Zoo. It is very beautiful there and I recommend the train ride.

They have a pleasant atmosphere. The people are friendly and they have plenty of animals to see. They also have all sorts of events at different times of the year. They host the zoo boo at Halloween, which the little trick or treater's love.
