This is a pretty good small town zoo- it takes less than 2 hrs to go through the zoo- a perfect attraction for Texas summer heat! The little ones don't get too tired and there is a nice playground on the grounds of the zoo. The little train ride is only $2 and a nice addition to your visit.

Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin Texas is a little gem that should not be overlooked. It is not a mega zoo; however, that is part of the charm. The nearly complete shade of the trees and shrubbery make it an easy walk through the well maintained trails past the animal habitat. I liked that it was easy to see a... More

This zoo is perfect for a family and the prices are affordable. It had a lot of different animals and we a nice time. The gift shop was affordable as well, not like most zoos, it had low prices.

I come here at least once a year when I'm down for a visit. The prices at $5.00 for adults is a great value for time spent. If you pickup a bag of popcorn you'll make a lot of new friends. They have a train ride that that take you around the exterior of the park that is good value.

We went recently after watching The Daytripper and I am so glad we did. I've been to many zoo's both big and small and this one was just the perfect size. We got there early around 10am so it wasn't too hot yet since it is July in Texas. The animals were also very active which made it more interesting.... More

A couple of weeks ago, my family and I went to the Ellen Trout Zoo. It was very nice. Examples of animals we saw included: flamingos, snakes, lions, and even a komodo dragon. Also, scattered throughout the zoo, are several shaded seating areas. This came in handy when trying to take a break from the summer heat. I would definitely... More

For the size of this zoo, it is impressive the variety and amount of animals that reside here. It is well shaded and never excessively overcrowded. The entrance fees are nominal but the gift shop is slightly expensive. The concessions are reasonably priced so no complaint from me here. My family has been here numerous times and we will continue... More

My husband and I took 2 of our grandchildren to the Ellen Trout Zoo this week. It was a weekday so it wasn't very crowded although the southeast Texas heat and humidity probably had something to do with that also. The zoo is small but has many great animals and a really good reptile house. They have many snakes making... More
