We spent the day at the swimming beach with the kids. It only cost $5 for me and the kids 12 and under were free. It was not crowded and we were able to park close by. The first roped area is for toddlers/non swimmers and is only a couple feet deep. The 2nd area is roped off and goes... More

This has to be one of the TOP 10 BEST PARKS IN TEXAS! I love this place. I go TRAIL RUNNING frequently here. ALL of the trails are superb. My favorite is the Chinquapin Trail which is approximately 7 miles long around Lake Raven. This park has hiking, mountain biking, horse back riding, an EXCELLENT SWIMMING area, fishing, camping and... More

The campsites are spectacular. Easy access to restrooms and showers nearby as well as electricity at the campsite are so convenient. We camped out in a tent and had a difficult time sleeping only because all the sounds of the night life are splendid. They are a bit loud, though, so if you like to complain about trivial little things,... More

We tried to fish there in April with a small boat. The invasive plants were bad then, but now they seem to have taken over the park. Swimming area is closed, NO boats at all - we have never been there when there were NO boats, as the boat dock is also taken over with the plants. They had it... More

The trails were well marked and well maintained. Heard a lot of birds, but actually saw very few. We hiked the north part of the chinquapin trail and part of the dogwood trail. Not a lot to see in this area. If we go again we will try the south part of the trail that has the dam and a... More

Enjoyed a full day of geocaching with my kids. Planned to launch Kayaks to do some fishing but ended up fishing from the pier. Raven Lake offers good bass and bream fishing from virtually any spot. The park is very easy to access and just a short drive from Houston.

My husband and I brought our dogs here and hiked the 6.8 mile Chinquapin trail. It had rained recently and parts of the trail were incredibly muddy, but it was still a nice hike. We saw an eagle and a coyote and we hiked through a variety of terrain. Some areas are marsh, others are fairly dense forest, and there... More

If you can sit by the water look at the water that is just fine open forest and very peaceful. Very clean always soothing to do. Can go camping a day at the park or with your family a great place to stay if you looking for a good deal 5 dollars a day for camping.

I first visited this place in 2006. It was my first campout with my son and his cubscout troop. I thought it was one of the funnest outings with my kids and the outdoors. I remembered it was great. Well I went out there again on April 25,2015. We only had a chance to drive through since we did not... More

We wanted some time away from the big city so on a Friday morning we packed a lunch, hiked the dog up into the back of the RAV4 and spent a quick 45 minutes driving to this quiet spot. Spotted during the day: a Girl Scout group on a nature scavenger hunt, 3 buses of students enjoying the lake, dogwood... More
