Beautiful park but has a serious fly and some kind of tiny little black biting insect problem. It was very hard to enjoy our visit because of this.u entire family is covered in bite marks. Swimming area is nice.

Many trees, nice lake, facilities are clean, staff is friendly. I live in Huntsville and my daughter and I visit there for certain functions often. We are not "campers". He have hiked the trails and they are clearly marked and clean. Bike riding through the park is a must. Lots of wildlife and watch out for the alligators!

We discovered Huntsville State Park at a lecture at REI about various hikes around the Houston area. The facilitator said that Huntsville was her favorite and it sounded a lot more appealing than "hiking" along the bayous. When we got to Huntsville we were pleased to see the lake and the hills. We were trying to prepare for a volcano... More

First things first, make reservations! I can't believe how hard it is to get a camp site here. This park is always packed in the spring and fall when the weather is nice in Houston. We lived our camp site. Running water, electricity, picnic table and just a short walk to the restrooms. We enjoyed paddle boating with our four... More

We went fishing at the pier this past weekend and caught several small fish. Another man was fishing on the other end of the pier and caught a fairly large fish, but before he could get it out of the water, the alligator snatched it away. :) Loved seeing the alligator hanging out under the pier.

many great trails. most kids could bike ride but all very easy to hike, nice metal benches throughout trails, spaced perfectly. stayed in electric/sewer site and was great spacing. playground ok, mainly swings, park was patrolled, saw racoons, no deer. very pleasant staff and easy to use, no problems at all.

Nice place for weekends and holidays. The park is full of trees this is good for sunny summer days. Is special for kayaking, fishing, swimming, walking and biking. Lot of places to cook your barbecue and tables. There are also fresh water close to the tables. For more privacy choose the first locations. I cannot tell you how good is... More

The park offers a beautiful atmosphere for camping or as a meeting place. The lodge has a rustic appearance that accomodates large groups. The area behind the lodge allows people to view the lake area which is beautiful.

I went to the park many times for relaxing with friends. The lake and the forest are very beautiful, but the small beach may be crowded especially on the weekend. It is a great place to do a fun picnic and games with friends. My friends went camping at night once and they love it. You can do many kinds... More

We went to Huntsville State Park on a Boy Scout hiking trip. The forest was beautiful and trails were very primitive (the way we like them). Definitely worth a visit. There are a bunch of roads through the park that are a lot of fun to go out and drive on. Just watch out for the bicyclist as they do... More
