My husband and I brought our dogs here and hiked the 6.8 mile Chinquapin trail. It had rained recently and parts of the trail were incredibly muddy, but it was still a nice hike. We saw an eagle and a coyote and we hiked through a variety of terrain. Some areas are marsh, others are fairly dense forest, and there... More

If you can sit by the water look at the water that is just fine open forest and very peaceful. Very clean always soothing to do. Can go camping a day at the park or with your family a great place to stay if you looking for a good deal 5 dollars a day for camping.

I first visited this place in 2006. It was my first campout with my son and his cubscout troop. I thought it was one of the funnest outings with my kids and the outdoors. I remembered it was great. Well I went out there again on April 25,2015. We only had a chance to drive through since we did not... More

We wanted some time away from the big city so on a Friday morning we packed a lunch, hiked the dog up into the back of the RAV4 and spent a quick 45 minutes driving to this quiet spot. Spotted during the day: a Girl Scout group on a nature scavenger hunt, 3 buses of students enjoying the lake, dogwood... More

This park has a lot to offer. A great lake, kayak and boat rentals, swimming area, well-maintained hiking trails, and lots of camping options (both in sites and locations). (Someone mentioned crocodiles in their review -- there are none. I promise. But there are alligators.) Lots of birds in the woods. Most of the trails and campsites are well-shaded with... More

Didn't have much time to spend in the park but enjoyed a short hike. The rental canoes and paddle boats looked fun but were not open the day we were there (and we didn't have time). Lots of picnic tables and camp sites were often shaded by trees. Would like to go back.

This is a great park for tent campers! They have shelters in a number of the sites that are just wonderful to help store stuff so everything doesn't have to be in your tent. These shelter sites have electricity and water so it makes tent camping so easy. The sites for RVs with sewer hookups were too close together and... More

We stopped here to hike and nab a few geocaches. The trails are well maintained and beautiful. It's hard to believe this serene place is so close to the city. There are lots of campsites, water activities, hike and bike trails, 10 geocaches, a nature center, park store, and friendly staff. There were lots of other people in the park... More

The park looks fairly nice. We stayed in an RV site across the street from the bathrooms that was very unlevel. It was convenient to the playground though. We only stayed just to sleep so I can't give you many details.it was a little pricey and they have a park fee and it is five dollars per person additionally.

This park has lots to offer - trails, lake for swimming, boating, kayaking, roads for biking, walking, sightseeing, and bird watching. The cabins are comfortable and accommodating, but reserve ahead of time to be sure of availability. TREES, TREES, TREES. Beautiful shade in the summer. Campsites are not too close together and almost all are positioned for fabulous views of... More
