I hike and walk here because it is just minutes from home. It has a pretty little lake. Great camp sites. It does have alligators, but i have never seen one.

We went to Huntsville State Park last Saturday. This is was pretty good day. They have horseback riding, kayaking, catamaran, volleyball place. You just need to arrive early to be able to do everything. Or you can stay overnight camping. Highly suggest. Park is very clean with plenty of picnic tables. the only thing we were not luck with fishing.... More

My husband and I love hiking here! There's a trail for every level, whether that be biking, running or hiking. Come prepared with a good pair of shoes, sun screen, mosquito repellent, water and a towel. You will sweat! Bonus. ...there are showers available by the campgrounds so you don't have to drive home feeling sticky. A wonderful time away... More

We went to the State Park for a birthday party at the Raven Lodge. Although I've lived in Huntsville since 1971, I can count on one hand the number of times I have visited the State Park. I must say, if you are into this sort of thing, it was really nice and well kept and well patrolled. Do NOT... More

It is a beautiful park located only a few miles from Huntsville, Texas. It has a 210 acre lake, 160 campsites, 32 shelters, picnic areas, a swimming area, 19 miles of hiking trails, canoe rentals, food concessions, and a store with groceries and souvenirs. The piney woods offer a beautiful setting, and the park was well maintained on our last... More

Beautiful park but has a serious fly and some kind of tiny little black biting insect problem. It was very hard to enjoy our visit because of this.u entire family is covered in bite marks. Swimming area is nice.

Many trees, nice lake, facilities are clean, staff is friendly. I live in Huntsville and my daughter and I visit there for certain functions often. We are not "campers". He have hiked the trails and they are clearly marked and clean. Bike riding through the park is a must. Lots of wildlife and watch out for the alligators!

We discovered Huntsville State Park at a lecture at REI about various hikes around the Houston area. The facilitator said that Huntsville was her favorite and it sounded a lot more appealing than "hiking" along the bayous. When we got to Huntsville we were pleased to see the lake and the hills. We were trying to prepare for a volcano... More

First things first, make reservations! I can't believe how hard it is to get a camp site here. This park is always packed in the spring and fall when the weather is nice in Houston. We lived our camp site. Running water, electricity, picnic table and just a short walk to the restrooms. We enjoyed paddle boating with our four... More

We went fishing at the pier this past weekend and caught several small fish. Another man was fishing on the other end of the pier and caught a fairly large fish, but before he could get it out of the water, the alligator snatched it away. :) Loved seeing the alligator hanging out under the pier.
