I can't say anything else. It's a huge statue. White color. I can't write 50 characters about this. Just a huge statue. You can see it from the highway

Physically, Sam Houston stood well over six feet tall. His accomplishments exceeded his stature, and this monument is of a fitting scale. True, you can see it from I-45, but you can't appreciate its size until you stand at its base. I enjoyed my visit, and got information on attractions, restaurants, etc. from the helpful people in the visitor center.... More

I have visited in the past but it was well worth another trip just to watch the reaction of my grandchildren as they rounded the path and came up on this enormous statue. This wonderful work of art was created by the famous David Addicks. You will also see the mold that he used for the face of the statue.... More

This is a required visit for all Texans. The lovely wooded grounds are the perfect setting for the amazing, huge statue. Kids will have a blast! Take lots of pictures.

Extremely large statue that is visible from the highway. Not too difficult to locate. Enjoyed the walk on the trail to get to it, but would not be readily accessible for someone physically handicapped.

I thought that this was going to be a nice 0.5 mile hike or so. It's just a good place to stretch your legs and see a giant statue of an important person in Texas History.

If you're headed to Huntsville or passing by on I-45, it's a good chance to stretch your legs and get a little taste of Texas. Nice welcome center, helpful people, interesting info about both Sam and the making of the statue, there were lots of kitties for our son to play with when we went. My mother-in-law doesn't get around... More

We only slowed down a bit driving past on the freeway, looks pretty impressive, but based on the reviews here; we did not bother to stop.

Stopped in here because I'm a history nut and a Freemason. There's little here to see except the very large starue of Sam Huston overlooking I-45. There is a welcome center and a giftshop for souveniers. The big draw here is the statue itself. Sam was a big man in life...and in death. He was also a Freemason....very proud to... More
