Rice students get one specific free concert attendance to Houston Symphony every semester, and this is the one event that I will never miss. Expect a top-notch, world-class performance from this spectacular group! Every performance season, Houston Symphony hosts many events, which are not limited to your traditional classical music performances. The Symphony will occasionally bring in musical celebrities like... More

The symphony has not been good for years, they seem afraid to attack notes, unenthusiastic tones, but good for a bedroom community and yuppies who like to say they went to a symphony.

Selections of works to be performed for both the Classical and POPS series, whether familiar or "non-standard" are almost always crowd pleasers, and are consistently very well performed. The "Very Merry POPS" concert in December is, year-after-year, one of the most joyful and memorable events of the season.

About 5 years ago, the Symphony offered special pricing on tickets that was too good to pass up. We bought a mini season package and have since relished in the sounds and the emotions invoked by our experiences at the symphony. We are now full season ticket holders and love the regular opportunities to dress up, feel elegant, and delight... More

Moved to Houston 18 months ago and the Symphonic has been one of my best surprise (among several others) in town. Beautiful location. Very comfortable seats and view. Orchestra is excellent. Prices can be spicy but one can find very good buys as well. Repertory has been awesome. Congratulations Houston and Thank you for the sponsors.

The Houston Symphony truly is world class and is a pleasure to listen to. I happen to like Jones Hall although it doesn't have the acoustics of some of the best halls. Still, I'll miss it if and when they spend a few hundred million to replace it, which I suppose is inevitable!

We have had subscriptions here for the last two years and have really enjoyed it. Jones Hall is a lovely venue, great acoustics and comfortable seating. The orchestra offers a really wide variety of classical and popular shows.

The new conductor, Estrada, is exciting. We have been to orchestras around the world and by far, Houston has the best.

Our association with the Houston Symphony goes back over 30 years, when we first purchased season tickets. Through the years, it has been a bit like watching a child grow up. It has become a serious orchestra performing serious music. At its best, the HSO is the equal of any of the finer orchestras anywhere. Not only is the playing... More
