Great for the whole family, but take lots of water with you. We were at the zoo right as it opened which was great! Close parking and we were able to see many animals before the zoo became crowded which it was by noon. Stay on the path so you see everything and bring your own water. We spent more... More

We visited the Houston Zoo over Memorial Day Weekend in 2012. In a nutshell, the zoo has some very positive aspects, but a few things to improve upon. For example, there are just a handful of refreshment stands and restrooms available for patrons. Some of the enclosures are dated and afford the animals little diversion or recreation. Although the zoo... More

Very nice, clean zoo, but smaller than the San Antonio Zoo. Still a must-see, however! We had a great time. More

This zoo was well worth the money! Military is free (which is great!). It was spacious and laid out well. Our children loved the animal diversity. We took the metro rail to the zoo from our hotel, which was convenient, but we didn't have a stroller, just a carrier for our one year old, so it was a little more... More

The feeding of Giraffes is something special! They have "Cool Off Zones" during the summer months with misting "showers". AMAZING CHILDRENS ZOO! Enough Fun for two days straight! I really like all of the tv programs the Houston Zoo can be found on, My 4 year old saw an amputation of a lizard's leg on one show and we HAD... More

At first I wasn't expecting a great zoo since it was quite a bit smaller than the one we last went to in Miami, but actually ended up having a great time. The great thing about the zoo is that it's not so big that you have to devote an entire day to it, nor is it too short that... More

We love the Houston Zoo to the point where we "adopt" animals, give donations to the zoo, and we visit it at least on a monthly basis. We especially love going during the cooler months of the year. The Zoo has undergone a complete transformation in the past few years. While there is still some work to be done, the... More

I love zoos, they are on my must see list in any developed city. I would rank the Houston as very good for the sheer number of exhibits. The grounds are well maintained, and it s spacious. The new(er) chimpanzee exhibit is a must see, as very few zoos have the sheer expanse of real estate to accommodate chimps due... More

The Houston Zoo is a good choice to visit while in Houston. They have done a beautiful job and it's a good place to walk around and enjoy the animals. More

I took my class there for a field trip and memories came flashing back. I forgot how wonderful and exciting that place is for children and adults. Lots to see and do. More
