Love the Zoo

The zoo is great to visit. There are so many different animals to see. In the summer it is really hot and humid outside, so take sunblock and water in with you.

The Houston Zoo is such a great zoo. Despite being extremely busy it never felt crowded. It covers a vast area and the entire zoo flows so well. All of the zoo staff were so kind and helpful. If you really want to see the entire zoo you need to plan for a day. It is huge. They have did... More

Firstly, don't attempt to go unless you can get there first thing in the morning or later in the day because parking is atrocious. There are plenty of parking but the demand vastly exceeds the supply. Zoo employees say it due to the fact that the city provides parking through Hermann Park and that the Zoo has no say in... More

I felt the zoo was nice. It is good to spend a day, but during the day i think the animals were as hot as the people walking around. It was nice to have to cooling stations around the zoo, but the parking could use some work. It took us over a half an hour to find a parking spot,... More

i certainly was expecting a lot more for such a big city as Houston. A number of attractions did not have any animals such as the elephant attraction. It is not a zoo I would rush back to unless I knew there were some improvements made. Sorry.....

This zoo has it all! The gorilla area is open and fascinating. The 9 and 7 year old grandchildren loved it! One suggestion- go at opening (9:00am) in the summer, take snacks and drinks, and lunch. Food is pricey for a family. Throughout the zoo you will find hands on zoo keepers who give presentations for the visitors in most... More

This is a beautiful old zoo, great landscapes, old oaks, lots of animals that were out and visible. Friendly staff and the grounds were clean, hard to believe you are in the middle of the largest cities in the U.S.

Houston zoo will amaze you on how big and variety of animals they have. I'm a member and go here a lot, couple hours here n there after work since I work in medical center. And just this week I found out we have red panda. Omg the cutest thing ever. Summer is not the best choice since Houston heat... More

The zoo is a major attraction in Houston and the carparks at times can get busy. Entry to the zoo is good value for money, if you intend to visit regularly I would advise buying an annual pass as it gives many benefits. I was a little concerned about some of the animals at the zoo regarding their behaviour. I... More

I'm really impressed by the Houston Zoo. The 7 gorillas are definitely a highlight. Their enclosure is really beautiful and spacious. There are a few exhibits that only have one animal in them and I do worry that some of the animals are lonely, but overall I'd say it's a really nice zoo.
