The Houston Zoo is so fantastic, it really is hard to express. Every time we visit, the exhibits have been improved and updated. Customer Service is always excellent, yet it somehow gets better with every visit. They constantly seem to have new animal births which tells me that they have a thriving program and outstanding care for their animals. The... More

The zoo is lovely. So much to do for grownups and children. From a petting zoo to an exhibition on insects, you can enjoy the animals and the wonderful park the zoo is set in.

The staff are well trained and knowledgeable. The animals appear to be well cared for, and we very much enjoyed the experience. Also seem to be animals suitable for a south Texas climate - no penguins etc.

It's a nice zoo but not laid out in the best way to herd small kids from one exhibit to the next without having to backtrack to see the monkeys or the large cats or the bears for instance. We saw the giant bugs exhibit and that was great. The food is a little pricey but expected at zoos; the... More

Houston Zoo is in a lovely location, it is well maintained, and the animals appear very well cared for. The grounds have plenty of shade and lots of indoor air conditioned areas to escape the heat. Plan to bring a lunch with you, as the food is overpriced, and bring a little extra cash to ride the carousel. In the... More

So if your in the Houston area, one thing is a must is checking out the Houston Zoo. While it is just another zoo for the most part, I found this zoo to be very well maintained, the animals seemed very pleased with their surroundings, and there is alot to see and do besides the animals. Also there is a... More

First time to a zoo in years. Great set up. Maps were great help. Lots of shading. Huge variety of animals. All animals looked to be treated well. Our 8-year old had the best day! Souvenir picture was perfect & affordable.

The Houston Zoo has a lot for the money. We went without children and had a great time. Staff were friendly. This zoo reminds me of Audubon Zoo in New Orleans.

I bought a membership to the zoo so that I could go with my friend and her children around 3 or 4 times a year. I live very close to the zoo and have found it the perfect place to go and get some regular exercise. Houston Zoo compares very well with all the other zoos I have visited, it... More

I have been to a lot of zoos, only one was rated in the top 10 and that was San Diego. So when we saw that Houston was right below it in the ratings we thought it would be an awesome trip, Maybe I just don't understand how they rate zoos. Is it from the habitat? animal care? or the... More
