Depends on what day you go. DO NOT GO WHEN IT'S FREE!! That's when it is full of ignorant people and they trash the zoo and run over kids. UGH. I'd rather go on a regular day and it is just beautiful!! I haven't been able to see ALL the animals in one trip because I get tired. I love... more

This place has gotten huge. There are dozens of new exhibits just in the last five years many directed towards children. This is by far the best zoo I've ever been to. The animals are well tended and have tons of room. They are truly the stars of the show. Take sunscreen, stow some drinks of your own and some... more

This is our 2nd time visiting the houston zoo. We LOVE zoos, and have been to many all over the country. It makes us feel good to help the zoos out and see endangered species thriving....BUT! We went almost 2 years ago and it just 2 days ago and both times there was major construction goin on the whole day!... more

We live just outside of Houston, in Friendswood. I take my 8 year old homeschool son to the zoo at least twice a year. Through my adult years I have visited better zoos it's true. Of course, San Diego and San Antonio are incredible. BUT I find that Houston's zoo has tried to improve as much as possible when they... more

April 2, 2008 I toured with a preteen in a wheelchair who could see NOTHING because the entire facility is constructed with no reference to state of the art zoo design per guest experience. You have got to be kidding! The richest oil city in the world hosts a zoo that looks like a dark/drab animal corral in deep East... more

We went to the Houston Zoo over Spring Break and it is by far the worst zoo experience I've ever had. It was not kept clean at all, the landscaping looked like they had fired their maintenance staff because their were weeds everywhere. It was really dirty, I was afraid to touch anything, and , yes, I realize it is... more

We always have a great time at the zoo. There are lots of animals to see and keeper talks to listen to. We have only listened to a few keeper talks. My kids are 7 and 8 years old and they have fun just going through and seeing the animals. The childens zoo area is a lot of fun. They... more

The Houston Zoo is located downtown which seemed a little strange considering the size of the city. The zoo is quite large and you can spend hours there going through it all. Most of the time you don't even know you're in the middle of the city. They're working on a big expansion right now so it's going to be... more

i was in houston during the easter weekend. i decided to take the public transit system which is really great and a bargain at that. when i was dropped off in the hospital district, there was no signs nor directions on to get there. you have to go through a childrens hospital area, then baylor university, then parking garage and... more

This zoo was what I would call an average zoo. It was of decent size. I believe it cost $8.25 for one adult. They have the usual animals..monkeys, tigers, lions. A lot of birds. Elephants, giraffes, etc. I'd say you could do the whole zoo in under three hours. I don't think you would be blown away--it is nothing compared... more
