I expected a bigger and better zoo for a city of Houston's size. It was very pretty, very clean, and they clearly took good care to provide large living spaces for the animals.... but, there were just not that many animals to look at. There were so many pathways to walk, it seemed like more of a walk in the... More

We needed to be in Houston for an extended period of time. The proximity of the zoo to the medical center area made it a "no brainer" for entertaining our three year old. She loved every moment of it and My daughter and I had a phenomenal photo take of us together feeding a giraffe. We will always treasure that... More

Beautifully done zoo, well marked and mapped. Comprehensive zoo experience from the big cats to the big apes and all in between. Habitats are large and inviting for the animals and for visitors to see the animals. Plan on walking A LOT but it is worth it if you can. If you are a zoo lover then it is a... More

I spent a few hours here seeing the large variety of animals. I was impressed with the elephant area, as well as the gorilla and chimpanzee area. Everything was nicely set up, and most of the animals were out. Well worth a stop.

We really enjoyed out afternoon at the Houston Zoo. We took my parents (over 75) and still walked the entire facility and enjoyed the various exhibits. The variety of animals on display runs the usual full gambit from elephants, giraffe, lions, and bears to apes and monkeys - the usually variety. They've structured the layout and enclosures very thoughtfully -... More

I have not been to the zoo in a decade or so and it has really improved. The gorillas and large animals were very enjoyable. So was the bird house. The place has done a good job of keeping up with the times. Feed the giraffes was fun.

The last time when I went to Zoo Lights, I was impressed by the coordination between the lights and music. Don't miss the car near the entrance that has its own sets of lights and music, WOW! Another of my favorite memories was the giraffes, and especially the two baby giraffes. They were too cute. There was a clear plexiglass... More

We go to the zoo a lot, but we went to show my grand daughter the new gorilla display. The gorillas are beautiful and the silverback was spectacular. This is always a favorite for us and the grandkids.
