I chose to go to Rice Village in the summer - which was somewhat of a mistake because it's so hot and muggy outside, it's not very fun to go around between the shops, carrying bags, when you are sweating bullets!

We heard this was a good place to shop and eat. I will say there are restaurant and shop choices, but it wasn't anything special. Parking was hard to find, and the traffic was very heavy. They are better places in town.

The whole area is kept clean, well maintained with choice restaurants, coffee shops, casual dining, etc. of varied cuisines galore all with parking. Most shuttles go to Rice Village. The choice of shops run the gamut of choices from Victoria's Secret, Gap, unique boutiques, spas, CVS, everything's there. The outdoor seating with soft outdoor music piping is remarkable. Plus, you... More

This is a fun shopping experience away from the covered mall scene. A lot of individual owned stores and places to eat. Parking can present a problem but most everything is within walking distance.

The Village Bakery at 4509 Kelvin Street in Rice Village is exceptional. I needed Minion cookies sent to my brother at MD Anderson for his birthday. I ordered 2 dozen, individually wrapped Minion cookies. They were decorated in detail and tasted delightful. Richard took my order and double checked it to make sure it was just as I wanted. He... Rice village was once the most fun place to visit. It was a collection of mostly independent shops and restaurants covering several blocks near Rice University and the Texas Medical Center. It was great for walking, browsing and finding unusual items. But like so many areas in Houston, it got discovered and became trendy. Many of the independent shops were... More

The area is nice for walking and shopping. The English imports store is one of my favourites. There's a wonderful bakery as well. I can always find something unique when I look through the little shops.
