We skipped the zoo because we didn't have time and we have a very good zoo in our local area, but still we enjoyed the playground area and the fountains in Hermann Park. We had two young children who needed the exercise before a long car ride. Spending a few hours here on a Sunday morning worked well for us.

This park offers a little bit of everything. Great for an afternoon stroll or hearty morning run. Bring the kids along and let them enjoy the playgrounds or ride the mini train or paddleboats. There are lots of picnic tables and wide open green spaces to enjoy the outdoors. A great place for locals or visitors alike.

I am a native Houstonian with my roots in this area stretching back to the early days of The Republic of Texas. I love my city & I love my state. I have lived & travelled around the world & visited public, urban spaces in many cities on four of the seven continents. Hermann Park has the ability rival the... More

If you happen to be in the hospital district for an extended time, as I was, visiting ill family members, this is a very good place to spend a few hours shaking of the cobwebs and relaxing. It is a very large park, so you can either sit and people-watch or walk to you heart's content.

I have been in Hermann Park before years ago, but recently visited again, and I was really impressed. Not only is there a huge amount of open space for anything from barbecues to picnics to sports activities, it is also home to much more. The botanical garden, the Miller Outdoor Theatre, the numerous running and bike trails, fountains, and even... More

I ventured into this park on a visit to Houston and really fell for its charm. It has a good mix of activities with tons of ambiance. From the families to the guy playing the saxophone, it was a great experience to relax and take in all the action. Plus it was free.

This is a great area for picnics, and taking children to play. There is also a train and for a fee can take the kids for a ride.

Wonderful place to have some quality time be it alone or with the family or friends. Especially liked the Japan Garden. The lush green and the blue lake is breathtaking.
