Houston has an underground Art scene that isnt advertised but more percieved. If you know where to go and what to look for you might get really lucky. Definately ask the locals. It is difficult to write a review for the Menil Museum without first appreciating John and Dominique de Menil, their collecting and displaying philosophy and their connoisseurship in selecting the particular artwork they enjoyed.
