I visited this museum yesterday with my children ages 6, 6 and 5. I purchased the Houston City Pass that gave me a discounted entry fee. Good deal but it wasn't clear that the really cool exhibits cost a LOT extra per person. I was totall jazzed to see the traveling exhibit of the terra cotta warriors but you have... more

Several thousand full size terra cotta soldiers were created and built by China's first emperor to guard his burial site. Approx. 15 of them are now on exhibit in Houston's Mus. of Nat. Science, one of four U.S. museums to house the exhibit. This is the first time China has allowed any soldiers to leave the country. The absolutely fabulous... more

I admit I got spoiled after living in Washington, DC, where the Smithsonian Museums are free, but I have paid to go tinto museums in many locations. I went to this museum in May of 2009 mainly to see a special exhibit on Genghis Khan. First I had to pay the standard museum entrance fee and then a special fee... more

If you are going to the Museum for the first time, plan to spend the entire day. There is the museum proper, the permanent exibits, the butterfly dome, the Imax theatre, the planetarium, the observatory and any extra exhibits you might want to see. It's all impossible to do in one day. Here is my suggestion. Get an Imax ticket... more

I visited the museum in Feb 2009 - I was away on business and had the weekend to myself. I was staying near the Galleria, and the cab to the museum was $20. I arrived at 11:30 and left at 16:00, so it kept me occupied! TIP: get there early! By 2pm the place was bulging with kids and families,... more

My husband and I see most exhibits as they pass through HMNS. We have also attended Mixers and Elixers where the museum is open at night with drinks and a dj. It's a great time in a unique setting. We have had most luck seeing exhibits at night because we can miss out on the crowds. We made the mistake... more

This is a great place to take the kids. We like to pack a picnic lunch and eat across the street in Hermann Park. In the museum, my kids especially like the dinosaur and mineral exhibits, the planetarium, IMAX theatre, the earth fountain in the courtyard, and the gift shop. We've seen the special exhibits too and the kids really... more

Hmm, this museum does have some good exhibits, especially for kids. They have a black light in the hallway leading to the planetarium. We saw the Lucy exhibit and it was nice, but it seemed to be more an advertisment for travel to Ethiopia, and it worked, it seems like an interesting place to visit, despite the whole wars and... more

Natural history museum was interesting but quite expensive if you want to do anything more than the basic museum tour. Plan on spending around a $100 for a family of three if you want to see even two of the other exhibits. more

This place is probably better than Disney...and a lot cheaper! My husband and I visited the Museum of Natural Science on July 16 and were completely blown away by the multitude of exhibits and hands-on activities provided by the museum. I will say the only down side was the lack of bathroom facilities and the overcrowding in the special exhibit... more
