This has been one of our favorite places ever since they added the patio upstairs. If you get there before 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, you usually have space available. Nice, even romantic, spot to enoy drinks and conversation away from the typical club scene.

I actually found out about this bar on Tripadvisor. None of my Houston friends had heard of it but we decided to check it out. I'm glad we did. We went on a weekend and I was happy to see that it wasn't super crowded. The clientele seemed mellow and the atmosphere was laid back. I loved looking at all...

As soon as you enter this bar, you feel like you've gone back in time. It is the oldest bar in Houston; romantically dark and candle-lit. There is a beautiful old cash register and candelabras that have accumulated years worth of wax. This is a cash-only establishment. I heard that Sam Houston actually slept in the doorway.
