Very small museum, but worth a visit for the ORIGINAL Iwo Jima statue. This is on the grounds of the Marine Military Academy, which I also did not know existed prior to this visit.

Arrive before 3 pm so you can see the entire movie about the battle then have time to enjoy the museum and memorial. Many historical items to see and the massive sculpture speaks for itself. Spend a few moments here to honor our current and former soldiers.

we have visited the monument and museum twice - you must see the free movie about the monument and the local connection - it is very moving - and the museum is full of interesting facts and artifacts

We have been to this memorial many times. Grounds are always kept neat, and well groomed. The talking box at beginning, was very informative. I have also been to the one in Washington DC. Both are very nice. You should go and see it for yourself.

Vuisitor's Center accepts donations and the film is well worth seeing, lest we forget. The museum has many interesting items to see. The bronze cast depiction of raising the American flag is a moving, patriotic sight to behold. As it says at the local VA, "The price of freedom is evident here." So, too with this memorial.

I was not able to visit the museum due to my schedule conflicting with the hours of operation but I did park the car and walk around the monument. Best 30 minutes of this trip! What an amazing tribute to our real heroes. This is directly on the route out of the airport so anyone traveling to or from Valley... More

This is a great little, privately-run museum. Of course the main attraction is the huge, and very impressive statue commemorating the raising of the American Flag on Iwo Jima in February '45. Nearby is a very nice museum filled with interesting memorabilia of the fighting men and women of our military. There's an excellent documentary film that is worth seeing.... More

This is a great museum. Watch the 32 min video of the battle. Medal of Honor recipient Cpl Harlon Block is buried there. I have visited Iwo Jima, and seen the memorial in DC. This one is better than DC. And it is free.

Humbling and starkly beautiful. As you read and look around it's easy to appreciate the sacrifice the Marines in the battle of Iwo made.
