Old timber floor boards, long timber tables with bench seats and couples dancing the Texas two step. We were lucky enough to see Tom Gillam the night we visited- fantastic music and atmosphere. What a memorable night! I've left a little piece of my heart back at Gruene Hall.

We went here with our cousins from Lockhart and this is a diamond in the rough. We had a great time and this place is full of country music history. George Strait has been a fixture in the past here along with numerous other stars. Caution: The dance floor gives a little bit but that is all part of the... More

I'm not really into country music but this place is a must see. It is a vintage country dance hall, neon beer signs on the wall, old wooden tables and benches. It was everything I expected and more. There are no waitress, don't expect fancy drinks, but the beers were cheap and cold and the music was live. A great... More

Read about it on Trip Advisor. Kind of a drive. Quaint little town. Dance hall was very vintage. Chicken wire on the windows. Ok to smoke inside strange for me. Met some locals Lorri and Roger. Cheap beer and ok music. The EXPERIENCE was great.

Loved coming in to this little town and seeing the rich history...If you make it this way it is a must. The shops and walking the historic trails were a fun way to spend the day...

This was my first visit to Gruene and to the Dance Hall. My mother had requested a trip to Gruene from Austin for her 80th birthday. As it turned out It was too cold and rainy for the trip for her. In the meant time, we found out JJW was playing and I could not resist the pull of the... More

We stepped in to hear the last few songs of a country western group and the place was packed. This is such a neat dance hall that is still being used. Many famous singers and groups still come here to entertain the crowds. Others got their start in the music business here, like George Strait.

Gruene Hall is billed as Texas' oldest dance hall. It still has live music every night, sometimes locals, sometimes really big stars. We got tickets for a Saturday night dance/concert by Joe Ely, and it was incredible. Joe is a country legend, and he had a superb four piece band. Imagine this. You're sitting, or standing listing to country rock,... More

The Hall is a country music history lesson. The back part of the Hall is a dance hall with bands playing all day. In the front part is the bar with pictures of all the famous people who played there and where a lot of them got their 'break'. George Strait started there. Pictures and articles about Gruene Hall and... More
