Texas is full of history, but this is a bit different. This is where the movie, Michael was filmed. The celebrities' pictures line the wall. On a super hot day drop in for a spell and have a beer. You won't be sorry!

If you visit Texas and you're near Gruene Hall you have to stop by for a visit, be it daytime or for the night life. We stayed within walking distance of the hall and we sat on the porch and listen to the music and we also bought tickets for that night to see Ray Price. We had so much... More

Asleep At The Wheel at Gruene Hall. No more classic than that. Great time with family. Don't come looking for a place to sit. It's a dance hall

If Gruene Hall isn't on your bucket list, it should be. As the oldest dance hall in Texas, its historic value is reason enough to go. But, for a general admission concert venue, it's one of the most authentic Texas experiences still around that hasn't been ruined by overcommercialization. The wooden floors, the screen windows, the small town setting.... It's... More

Famous performers on weekends. Usually sold out. Very pricy. Less-well-known performers weekdays. Admission free. Busy beer bar plus barbecue and burgers. Extremely crowded, popular place, under cover. Walls fold down to continuous open sides to admit night air drawn in by huge fans.

Green Hall is one of the oldest dance halls in Texas. It has great music of all sorts of genres, check the calendar. Lots of free music as well as the bigger acts that you may need a ticket for. On Tuesday summer nights a well known rockabilly band, Two Tons of Steele take the stage for Two Ton Tuesdays... More

We took some guests from Europe who wanted to experience something very "Texas." This is always the first place we think of when we get that request and it always comes through as a 5 star experience. This is an old dance hall that claims to be one of the oldest in Texas. We went on a Sunday afternoon. The... More

We happened upon Gruen Hall when a local from New Braunfels recommended a visit to this cute area. We went into the early part of the evening and our kids joined us. The music was fantastic and the atmosphere electric. I wound up two stepping with my wife for a few songs, even though we were wearing shorts and sandals.... More

We found this place after chatting with locals at a beer festival in New Braunfels. There was a great country music session going on and the atmosphere was fantastic. The hall is like going back in time with a real cowboys style saloon. It is a popular place for locals from Austin and San Antonio taking a w/e break, so... More

If you are looking for a great time. A Texas dance hall is the way to experience a true old fashion trudishion. This place opened in1878, and not much has changed. No ac but they have cold beer live music. I think the only time you have to pay to get in is if they have a live band.
