Owner description: The Grapevine Vintage Railroad travels along the historic Cotton Belt Route between Grapevine and the Fort Worth Stockyards. The Railroad is serviced by two vintage locomotives which include "Puffy" the 1896 Steam locomotive and oldest continously operating steam engine in the South, and a 1953 GP-7 diesel locomotive. Passengers enjoy riding in authentic 1920s and 1930s Victorian - style coaches as they take a step back in time and experience train travel as it was in the glory days of the expanding West. Pull into the Fort Worth Stockyards Station and you'll be right in the middle of the Stockyards National Historic District where the Old West comes alive. Have fun at this outstanding retail and entertainment district.

The rail road has a small museum .We went on the train ride to Fort Worth. There were 2 children age 5 and 2.The trip is over an hour but they were not bored .They have snacks to purchase and they loved when they would blow the whistle at the rail road crossings. The stop over in Fort Worth is 2... More

Spent the day riding on the railroad to Stockyards. Pleasant ride, not overly scenic. Train was behind schedule due to line priority per regulation. Staff was kind, Conductor Bob a delight. Our kids ages 6-13 had a fun time & would do it again. If you have the time & interest, go for it!

A really nice way to get to The Stockyards. Trip takes about 1.5 hours but is lots of fun!

My husband and I had never been on a train and thought this would be something fun to do to end our little anniversary weekend get-a-way. I can't say that I think it would always be the way it was the day we went, I could see it could've been fun on a different day though. There was so much... More

We had an enjoyable trip aboard the Grapevine Vintage Railroad. The train was also known as the Tarantula Train. The staff, from taking our reservations, to the Conductor telling us goodbye were all friendly and very helpful. The train shares the tracks with the regular rail service and delays must be expected. The distance from the Grapevine Station to the... More

Positives: not too long, not too short; smooth ride, courteous attendants onboard, reasonable cost, well-kept equipment. Negative: some sections of the ride were not at all scenic; online schedules and rules confusing The Grapevine Vintage Railroad publicizes two round trip packages. One operates roundtrip from Grapevine, TX to the Stockyards Station in Fort Worth. The other, known as "The Trinity... More

This made our whole trip to the Dallas area!! The staff was great, the cowboy heist was awesome, & the train was cool. FUN FUN FUN!!! for kids of all ages. This does sell out of seats, so make a reservation in advance.

We took the Grapevine Vintage RR on Saturday, May 14. The ticket office staff were polite and very helpful. The train staff were very informative and accomodating. We chose the open air car and it was a gorgeous 70 degree day. We stopped once going to Ft. Worth and once coming back for another train to pass. The ride was... More

Perhaps the most brutal travel experience of my life! Who takes this to keep it viable and who are the people writing the glowing reviews. This was the least scenic least entertaining and least educational tour I've ever been on. The cattle run was a slooooooooooow crawl with clearly heavily sedated bulls! It is unbelievable that this tour continues to... More

Not sure which Grapevine Vintage Railroad these other folks are talking about but this was the worst waste of $40 and 5-6 hrs. of our time that we can remember. Dreadfully slow, passing along cookie-cutter pretentious mansions then fading into trash and "debris" (to be polite) strewn back neighborhoods, you'll spend a great deal of the trip stopping in the...
