Definitely a step back in time to the opulent past. Beautiful restoration with great acoustics for a more intimate concert venue (Lyle Lovett was great). Apparently audiences in the 1890's were shorter and thinner than today's audience as the seating is really confined, particularly leg room. Would definitely recommend to attend a concert or performance at the Opera House if... More

This is a working opera house with various programs throughout the year. We found the private boxes very reasonably priced for symphony performances and other shows. It is a beautifully restored building from before the Great Storm. I must see.

No matter what/who you're into hope they play at 1894 Opera House. This is a very intimate venue that is hard to beat for acoustical quality, and there is not a bad seat in the house, even the partially blocked seats are good. Have seen all the Tuna shows here, and the Jerry Jeff Walker show in January is the... More

Very intimate concert hall. Acoustics were very good, seating comfortable. Even though we purcahjsed what appeared to the last two seats in the house, I believe every one has a great view.

I know it isn't the latest and greatest, but it has been here forever and has a charm all it's own. Back before electric amplification of sound the actor or singer had to be able to fill the space with just the voice, and the theaters were designed with this in mind. I swear you can hear a pin drop... More

Did a self tour and it was OK, think we missed a lot by not having a tour, but you need to reserve someone the day prior.

This is a great place to enjoy live performances. Everywhere is reasonable close to the stage, the sound system is fantastic. If you happen to have seats on the upper level and ask, they do have an elevator. We sat on the second level and could hear and see perfectly. The only complaint I would have is that the seats... Just attended the opening concert of the 2014-2015 season and saw The Pointer Sisters. Such absolute fun! This theater is so intimate that even sitting in the Orchestra row Q we felt like the Pointer Sisters were signing to us. You could feel the excitement of the rest of the audience throughout, creating great energy and pure fun! This is... More
