Mary Chapin Carpenter, March 27! Excellent venue, so much history. Great volunteers to help and guide you. The location is in the heart of the historical district, easy location, with local restaurants, bars, and coffee houses nearby. Easy walk back to the Tremont House

We went to the one-time performance of "102" -- celebrating 102 years of Broadway musicals. The show was terrific, but this review is about the opera house, which survived the 1900 hurricane and, more recently, Hurricane Ike (according to a marker in the lobby, the water level during Ike would have been higher than my 5"3" daughter). Parking was readily... More

We recently went to see Arlo Guthrie here. We loved the concert and the venue. This is a beautiful, intimate and historic theater with great acoustics and no bad seats. Arlo has his pick of venues and I can understand why he chose this place. Perfect.

We saw Arlo Guthrie this weekend. Seats were great!! Don't think there is a bad seat in this house. Restrooms were very clean and not crowded. Refreshments were available-- limited selection but the souvenier glasses were nice. The building is beautiful and so charming. Lots of ushers to help and they were really friendly!! Location on Post Office makes it... More

Please try to get some big names...not sure who chooses your line up. As a Galveston resident tired of going to houston for shows and concerts that I would pay to see here.

Saw Guys and Dolls. Entertaining and well done. Venue is small enough that there is no bad seat in the house but big enough to feel professional. Seating is very close so knees may hit seats in front, forget about crossing your legs. If the place ever catches on fire you are going to burn. But aside from my paranoia... More

Imagine a theater built where every seat can hear every word from every actor on the stage. This is the Grand 1894 Opera House. Built before fancy sound systems and microphones, the Opera House provides entertainment with an Old World, vintage charm that cannot be beat. I been there to see the Galveston Symphony, I have sat in different seats... More

Saw the Irish Tenors there in December. The perfect venue for some Old World music. Every seat feels like a front row seat.

Went to a Christmas Show of Manhatten Transfer and totally enjoyed the historic building as well as the entertainers. We set pretty far back but still had wonderful seats.

The restored (several times including after hurricane Ike) Opera House is in a good neighborhood downtown surrounded by excellent restaurants and various bars. It is a small venue with great acoustics and a perfect place to see and hear the national acts that are booked there. They book very good acts. We went to the Robert Earl Keen, Jr. Show... More
