Galveston is full of amazing history......one of the richest cities in the country at the turn of the 20th century, wiped out by the 1900 storm and the development of the Houston Ship Channel--Galveston today is a laid back tourist town with great beaches--and when the sun gets too hot, head down to the historic district to tour gorgeous homes... More

This place has some interesting things! I read about lit houses & here there is a lens from an old lit house!

Stop here first before touring. Made wonderful suggestions for lunch and things to do with bored teen.

I have enjoyed touring the Galveston County Historical Museum downtown in the past years. It was a rainy afternoon on a recent visit, so we decided to go spend some time at the museum. Much to our disappoint, there was sign in the window stating that the museum had been moved to a new location due to Hurricane Ike. If... More

The Galveston County Historical Museum is a must, especially if you know nothing of the history of the area. It's free, it's air-conditioned and very informative. Great exhibits.
